Metropolitan Planning Organization
A metropolitan planning organization (MPO) is a federally mandated and federally funded transportation policy-making organization in the United States that is made up of representatives from local government and governmental transportation authorities. They were created to ensure regional cooperation in transportation planning. MPOs were introduced by the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1962, which required the formation of an MPO for any urbanized area (UZA) with a population greater than 50,000. Federal funding for transportation projects and programs are channeled through this planning process. Congress created MPOs in order to ensure that existing and future expenditures of governmental funds for transportation projects and programs are based on a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive ("3-C") planning process. Statewide and metropolitan transportation planning processes are governed by federal law (). Transparency through public access to participation in the planning process and ...

Military Mail
Military mail, as opposed to civilian mail, refers to the postal services provided by armed forces that allow serving members to send and receive mail. Military mail systems are often subsidized to ensure that military mail does not cost the sender any more than normal domestic mail. In some cases, military personnel in a combat zone may post letters and packages to their home country free of charge. Modern military mail services are provided by most armed forces around the world. In some nations, individual service branches may run their own military mail program. History Early forms of military mail may go back to the dawn of civilization. There is some evidence of it dating back to Ancient Egypt of the 2nd millennium BC. The ''Anglo-Saxon Chronicle'' make mention of messengers being sent by King Edward the Elder (899-924) to recall members of the Kent fyrd, but it is generally regarded that the origins of the postal services stem from the King's Messengers (''Nuncii et Curs ...

Portable Ops
''Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops'', officially abbreviated ''MPO'', is a 2006 action-adventure stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami for the PlayStation Portable. The game was directed by Masahiro Yamamoto and written by Gakuto Mikumo, with series creator Hideo Kojima acting as producer. While not the first '' Metal Gear'' game for the PSP, unlike the previously released ''Metal Gear Acid'' and its sequel, as well as the '' Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel'', it retains the action-based play mechanics from the mainline series. Set in 1970, six years after the events of '' Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater'', the game follows the exploits of Naked Snake after he finds himself captured in Colombia by the now renegade FOX unit. Gameplay ''Portable Ops'' draws heavily from '' Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater'', utilizing the camera system from the '' Subsistence'' edition of the game. The main addition to ''MPO'' is the Comrade System. ...

Management And Planning Organization Of Iran
Management and Planning Organization of Iran (MPO) is an organization of the Government of Iran. It was first established after the decision of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for terminating the Plan and Budget Organization (PBO) in 2007. In July 2007, the MPO was dissolved after a direct order from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Although the MPO was a state body whose head was appointed by the president, it was relatively independent organisation. President Ahmadinejad, however, established a new budget planning body directly under his control, a move that may give him a freer hand to implement populist policies blamed for driving up prices. Economist Fariborz Raiis-Dana said that the decision dealt the coup de grâce to the structure of the national management organization. Iranian MP Esmaeil Gramimoqaddam said that the president's directive is illegal and the parliament opposes his decision. "The president is not authorized to order an alteration or merger of an organization. T ...

Managerial And Professional Officers
Managerial and Professional Officers (MPO) was a trade union representing senior staff working for local authorities in the United Kingdom. The union originated as the Federation of Professional Officers' Associations, a loose body founded in 1975. It brought together various small staff associations in order that they could more effectively take part in the Professional and Technical A Whitley Council negotiations on pay and conditions. While most local authority staff were represented by the National and Local Government Officers' Association (NALGO), the federation believed that NALGO did not represent the interests of senior staff, and that because many such staff managed workers who were members of NALGO, a conflict of interest would arise unless the senior staff had separate representation. In 1986, the associations which were members of the federation voted to unify as a single union, the Federation of Managerial and Professional Officers' Unions (FUMPO). Nineteen smal ...

Macedonian Patriotic Organization
Macedonian Patriotic Organization (MPO) is the oldest organization of Americans and Canadians of Macedonian descent in North America. It was founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, in 1922, by Macedonian Bulgarian immigrants originating mainly from Greek Macedonia. It was originally called the Macedonian Political Organization but changed its name to the current in 1952. The initial objective of the MPO was to advocate for a solution to the Macedonian Question in the form of an independent Macedonian state, in which all ethnic groups would enjoy equal human rights and freedoms. Over the decades, the MPO has evolved significantly, and today it is a not-for-profit corporation that promotes and preserves the customs, history, and traditions of Macedonian-Americans and Macedonian-Canadians. In the past, the organization has generally promoted the view that Macedonian Slavs are Bulgarians,PAGE ONE: Major Events of the 20th Century. Density Matrix Renormalization Group
The density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) is a numerical variational technique devised to obtain the low-energy physics of quantum many-body systems with high accuracy. As a variational method, DMRG is an efficient algorithm that attempts to find the lowest-energy matrix product state wavefunction of a Hamiltonian. It was invented in 1992 by Steven R. White and it is nowadays the most efficient method for 1-dimensional systems. The idea behind DMRG The main problem of quantum many-body physics is the fact that the Hilbert space grows exponentially with size. In other words if one considers a lattice, with some Hilbert space of dimension d on each site of the lattice, then the total Hilbert space would have dimension d^, where N is the number of sites on the lattice. For example, a spin-1/2 chain of length ''L'' has 2''L'' degrees of freedom. The DMRG is an iterative, variational method that reduces effective degrees of freedom to those most important for a targe ...

Multiset Path Ordering
In theoretical computer science, in particular in term rewriting, a path ordering is a well-founded strict total order (>) on the set of all terms such that :''f''(...) > ''g''(''s''1,...,''s''''n'')   if   ''f'' .> ''g''   and   ''f''(...) > ''s''''i'' for ''i''=1,...,''n'', where (.>) is a user-given total precedence order on the set of all function symbols. Intuitively, a term ''f''(...) is bigger than any term ''g''(...) built from terms ''s''''i'' smaller than ''f''(...) using a lower-precedence root symbol ''g''. In particular, by structural induction, a term ''f''(...) is bigger than any term containing only symbols smaller than ''f''. A path ordering is often used as reduction ordering in term rewriting, in particular in the Knuth–Bendix completion algorithm. As an example, a term rewriting system for " multiplying out" mathematical expressions could contain a rule ''x''*(''y''+''z'') → (''x''*''y'') + (''x''*''z''). In order to pr ...
