MNL-2
The MNL-2 is the second-tier football league of Myanmar. The official name is MNL-2 League. The inaugural season began in 2013. History The MNL-2 was founded in 2013 as part of MFF's effort to extend competitiveness into the nation's football system. The league is played in a league cup format. After two rounds of competition, the top two teams compete each other for the final. The two finalists are promoted to the MNL. The top four finishers from the league also qualify for the MFF Cup. However, this rule does not apply to the two guest teams which are taking part on experimental purposes. For the inaugural season in 2013, nine teams participated. Among them, Best United and Horizon FC were transformed from former Futsal clubs. Mawyawadi FC and Chin United were relegated from the MNL at the end of the 2012 season while Myawady FC were promoted from the Amateur League. Pong Gan FC is a new club, founded in 2014. 2014 MNL-2
The 2014 MNL-2 New Holland League is the second edition of MNL-2. The first round of the season began on 1 February and ended on 28 March. The schedule for the second round will be released after completion of the first round. The two guest teams taking part in MNL-2 will not be qualified to either MNL or MFF Cup. 2016 MNL-2
The MNL-2 2016 is the Myanmar National League's fourth full regular season. Four new clubs will join in 2016 MNL-2. There are Mahar United Football Club (MU FC), United of Thanlyin Football Club, Thihadeepa United Football Club (TU FC) and City Stars Football Club (CS FC). 2016 MNL-2 will start on 15 January. The MNL-2 2017 is the MNL-2's fifth full regular season. Name Change Horizon FC name changed to City Yangon. Personnel and sponsoring Note: Flags indicate national team as has been defined under FIFA eligibility rules. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality. Foreign players The number of foreign players is restricted to four per MNL-2 club. 2019 MNL-2
The 2019 National League 2, also known as the 2019 MPT Myanmar National League 2, is the 7th season of the MNL-2, the second division league for association football clubs since its founding in 2012. At the end of the 2018 MNL-2, Royal Thanlyin won the MNL-2 title. After 2018 MNL-2 finished, Royal Thanlyin and Dagon FC promoted to 2019 Myanmar National League. 2018 MNL-2
The 2018 National League 2, also known as the 2018 MPT Myanmar National League 2, is the 6th season of the MNL-2, the second division league for association football clubs since its founding in 2012. At the end of the 2017 MNL-2, City Yangon F.C. won the MNL-2 title. And then, City Yangon F.C. and Sagaing United promoted to 2018 Myanmar National League. But City Yangon F.C. quit from Myanmar National League. So, Myawady FC auto promoted to 2018 Myanmar National League. City Yangon F.C. and Chin United F.C. abandoned their clubs. 2022 MNL-2
The 2022 National League 2, also known as the 2022 MPT Myanmar National League 2, is the 10th season of the MNL-2, the second division league for association football clubs since its founding in 2012. It has been decided to hold the MNL2 tournament with a total of seven teams. In the league includes the MFF's youth teams and five other clubs. Silver Stars and Mawlamyine City will not be participating in the MNL-2 this season. Clubs It is decided that the MNL-2 will be played with seven teams. The teams include Dagon Star United, Junior Lions, Young Boys, Kachin United, University, Yaw Myay, Mawyawadi and Kachin United. Due to financial issues and budget cuts, University will not be promoted to the 2023 Myanmar National League. The 2020 National League 2, also known as the 2020 MPT Myanmar National League 2, is the 8th season of the MNL-2, the second division league for association football clubs since its founding in 2012. 3 months after being temporarily cancelled, the league itself was suspended. Chinland and Junior Lions both promoted to the 2021 Myanmar National League. However, in the 2022 season, Myawady took Junior Lions' place. Myanmar National League
The MPT Myanmar National League ( my, မြန်မာ နေရှင်နယ် လိဂ်; abbreviated MNL) is the premier national professional football league of Myanmar. In 2009, the league replaced the Myanmar Premier League, which consisted only of 14 Yangon-based football clubs, with eight professional clubs representing different regions across the nation. On 16 May 2009, the league launched its inaugural two-month tournament, the Myanmar National League Cup 2009 in preparation for the first full season in 2010. Despite its national ambitions, the league held the MNL Cup 2009 matches in the country's two main stadiums in Yangon due to the lack of adequate facilities elsewhere. On 5 July 2009, Yadanabon FC defeated Yangon United FC in the MNL Cup final to become the first-ever MNL Champions. Dagon Stars United Football Club ( my, ဒဂုံဘောလုံးအသင်း) is a Burmese football club based in Dagon Township, Yangon and founded in 2009. Dagon FC plays in MNL-2 since 2009. In 2015 MNL-2 season, they did not promote to Myanmar National League.
