MLS Saturday
''Soccer Night in America'' (also known as ''MLS Saturday/MLS on Fox Soccer'') was a weekly presentation of Major League Soccer games on FOX Soccer that began in 2003. From 2005 to 2011, FOX Soccer showed 25 to 30 live games each season, plus 2 to 3 playoff games. In 2007, ''MLS Saturday'' started showing a 30-minute pregame and a 30-minute postgame show for each game. In 2011, ''MLS on Fox Soccer'' was rebranded as ''Soccer Night in America'', with its production revamped to provide a viewing experience similar to ''NFL on Fox''. However, Fox was outbid by NBC Sports Network for its MLS package for the 2012–2014 seasons. In 2015, ''Soccer Night in America'' was again rebranded as ''MLS Soccer Sunday'' due to a new deal between Fox and ESPN, with games on Fox Sports 1 airing from 7-9pm ET. John Strong (sportscaster)
John Strong is an American television play-by-play broadcaster who is the lead play-by-play voice for '' MLS on Fox''. His work has appeared on NBC, Fox, ESPN among other networks. He is a former radio host on 750-AM "The Game" in Portland, Oregon and was the radio and television play-by-play announcer for the Portland Timbers Major League Soccer team. Broadcasting career Strong began his broadcasting career while in high school at Lake Oswego High School, where he founded Laker Broadcasting. Strong created audio broadcasts of LOHS football and basketball games beginning in 2002. While attending School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon, Strong worked at 750 KXL in Portland and was active at Oregon's campus station, KWVA. The 2007 Major League Soccer season was the 12th season in the history of Major League Soccer. The season began on April 7 and concluded with MLS Cup 2007 on November 18, 2007 at Robert F. ''MLS Primetime Thursday'' was the weekly presentation of Major League Soccer games on ESPN2 for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. The program was presented by Adidas. Under the arrangement, no rights fee was paid, and MLS controlled production, advertising, and promotion.
