Hackathons
A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest, datathon or codefest; a portmanteau of '' hacking'' and ''marathon'') is an event where people engage in rapid and collaborative engineering over a relatively short period of time such as 24 or 48 hours. They are often run using agile software development practices, such as sprint-like design wherein computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, product managers, domain experts, and others collaborate intensively on engineering projects, such as software engineering. The goal of a hackathon is to create functioning software or hardware by the end of the event. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, or the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. Ann Arbor is a city in Washtenaw County, Michigan, United States, and its county seat. The Qube (Detroit)
The Qube, also known as Chase Tower, is a 14-story high-rise office building in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It is located on Campus Martius at the northeast corner of the Detroit Financial District. Designed by Albert Kahn Associates in the modern architectural style, it includes a great deal of marble, similar to other buildings in the nearby Civic Center. The building was originally known as the National Bank of Detroit Building, and later as the Bank One Center. History The Qube stands on the site of Detroit's first skyscraper, the Hammond Building. The ground floor of this building is a massive 1.5-story glass sheathed, banking hall. The building was known as 'Chase Tower' from 2006 to 2011 to reflect Chase Bank's buyout of Bank One. Detroit Masonic Temple
The Detroit Masonic Temple is the world's largest Masonic Temple. Located in the Cass Corridor neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan, at 500 Temple Street, the building serves as a home to various Freemasonry, masonic organizations including the York Rite Sovereign College of North America. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980. The Detroit Masonic Temple contains a variety of public spaces, including three theaters, three ballrooms and banquet halls, and a 160-by-100-foot (49 m × 30 m) clear-span drill hall. Recreational facilities include a swimming pool, a American handball, handball court, a gymnasium, a bowling alley, and a billiard hall, pool hall.
