Nick Rodriguez, better known by his stage name M.E.D. (sometimes stylized as MED), is an American rapper from Oxnard, California. He was formerly known as Medaphoar. He has been signed to Stones Throw Records. Life and career Nick Rodriguez grew up in a musical family in Oxnard, California. After being featured on Lootpack's 1999 album '' Soundpieces: Da Antidote'', he was asked by Peanut Butter Wolf to join Stones Throw Records. He was also featured on Quasimoto's '' The Unseen'' and Madlib's ''Shades of Blue''. In 2005, M.E.D. released his debut album, ''Push Comes to Shove'', on Stones Throw Records. Oxnard () is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. On California's South Coast, it is the most populous city in Ventura County and the 22nd-most-populous city in California. Incorporated in 1903, Oxnard lies approximately west of downtown Los Angeles and is part of the larger Greater Los Angeles area. It is at the western edge of the fertile Oxnard Plain, adjacent to agricultural fields with strawberries, lima beans and other vegetable crops. ''The Unseen'' is the debut studio album by Quasimoto, a hip-hop duo composed of Madlib and his animated alter ego Lord Quas. It was released under Stones Throw Records on June 13, 2000. It was re-released in 2005 as a deluxe edition with a bonus CD containing the instrumental version of the album. Madlib took mushrooms for a month while creating the album. It was co-mixed by Kut Masta Kurt and Peanut Butter Wolf. The cover was designed by Jeff Jank. The song "Low Class Conspiracy" was on the soundtrack for the video game ''Tony Hawk's Underground''. Critical reception Nathan Rabin of ''The A.V. It features guest appearances from the likes of MF Doom, Aloe Blacc, Mayer Hawthorne, Jimetta Rose, Dâm-Funk, and Oh No. The album was re-issued in 2021. Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, ''Bad Neighbor'' received an average score of 81% based on 5 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Karriem Riggins is an American jazz drummer, hip hop producer, DJ and songwriter. Biography Riggins was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States, son of keyboardist Emmanuel Riggins. As a child, he would often watch his father perform with Grant Green, Marcus Belgrave and others. He joined the Kennedy Elementary school band in the sixth grade as a trumpeter, studying with Belgrave, where he played for two years in addition to drums before switching to drums full-time in the eighth grade. Riggins was a DJ, producing hip-hop and performing in three different school bands at Southfield High School before leaving school in the eleventh grade. Justin Gregory Smith (born January 8, 1978), known professionally as Just Blaze, is an American hip hop record producer and DJ. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Blaze attended Rutgers University for three years before dropping out to pursue his musical career. His stage name was inspired by the character Blaze Fielding from the '' Streets of Rage'' video game series.
