MD Rajendran
M. D. Rajendran is a malayalam poet ,lyricist and novelist. His father Ponkunnam Damodaran was a poet and activist. His siblings, M D Rathnamma and M D Ajayaghosh are also writers in malayalam. He was employed with All India Radio and retired from service in 2012. He has written lyrics for nearly 40 malayalam films. He has also composed music for a few films as well as albums. His collection of songs are published as a book titled ' Nin Thumbu Kettiyitta Churul Mudiyil' . His debut film as a lyricist was Mochanam in 1979. His famous works include Shalini Ente Koottukari composed by Devarajan and Devaragam directed by Bharathan, composed by academy award winner M M Keeravani. Ponkunnam
Ponkunnam (പൊൻകുന്നം) is a census town in Kerala, India, part of Kottayam district under Kanjirappally taluk. Ponkunnam literally means ''golden mountain'' (''ponn'' = gold, ''kunn'' = mountain). Nearby towns are Kanjirappalli, Manimala and Pala. This part of Kerala is famous for its fertile land and rubber plantations. It is at an altitude of above mean sea level. The town is at the junction of two major roads in Kerala: NH220 and Main Eastern Highway. The climate is moderate with timely cold breezes and the town is the gateway to the Western Ghats. ''Devaraagam'' is a 1996 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by Bharathan and starring Sridevi and Arvind Swamy. It also had KPAC Lalitha, Kozhikode Narayanan Nair, Zeenath, and Nedumudi Venu in supporting roles. The film was famous for its music which was composed by M. M. Keeravani. All the songs topped the hit charts. This was the movie in which actress Sridevi came back to Malayalam Industry after a long gap, as she was concentrated on her Bollywood career.
