MC Shy D
Peter Jones, professionally known by his stage name MC Shy D, is an American rapper and producer originally from the Bronx, New York, but was based in Atlanta, Georgia and thus became known as one of the first rappers to come from there. He was signed with Luke Skyywalker Records and released two albums, '' Got to Be Tough'' and ''Comin' Correct in 88'', through the label from 1987 to 1988. He released his third album, ''Don't Sweat Me'', in 1990 via On Top Records and Benz Records, and his fourth album, ''The Comeback'', in 1993 via Wrap Records. In 1996, Jones released his fifth studio album, ''Recordnize'', featuring DJ Smurf under Benz Records. His sixth and most recent album, ''Against the Odds'', was released in 1999 with Charlotte 'Tha Rhythum' Crooms, also via Benz Records. Michael Antoine Crooms (born October 5, 1972), better known by his stage name Mr. Collipark (and also known as DJ Smurf), is an American hip hop producer and the president of his own Atlanta-based record label, Collipark Music, which was started in 1999. The name ''Collipark'' was derived from the city of College Park, Georgia. Crooms is credited as playing a major role in the career of the Ying Yang Twins, Soulja Boy, Taurus, Hurricane Chris, V.I.C., and Vistoso Bosses. Ichiban Records is an American independent record label, founded in 1985 by John Abbey and Nina Easton in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. History Wrap Records and Nastymix Records were some of its subsidiary labels. Urgent! Records and Mr. Henry Records of Houston were both distributed by Ichiban. Besides recording a string of hip hop groups in later years, Ichiban originally specialised in blues and has also released albums by musicians such as Buster Benton and Raful Neal.
