Mals (unit)
Korean units of measurement, called ''cheokgwan-beop'' () or ''cheokgeun-beop'' () in Korean, is the traditional system of measurement used by the people of the Korean peninsula. It is largely based on the Chinese system, with influence from Japanese standards imposed following its annexation of the Korean Empire in 1910. Both North and South Korea currently employ the metric system. Since 2007, South Korea has criminalized the use of Korean units in commercial contexts but informal use continues, especially of the '' pyeong'' as a measure of residential and commercial floorspace. North Korea continues to use the traditional units, although their standards are now derived from metric conversions. History Ancient Korea Customary Korean units are a local adaption of the traditional Chinese system, which was adopted at a very early date. They were imposed and adjusted at various times by royal statutes. The details of the system have varied over time and location in Korea's histor ...

Master Of Arts In Liberal Studies
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (ALM, MALA, MLS, or MALS) is a graduate degree that aims to provide both depth and breadth of study in the liberal arts. It is by nature an interdisciplinary program, generally pulling together coursework from a number of disciplines such as behavioral sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences designed to train students to think critically and contextually about their own fields of discipline as well a diverse range of issues. Similar graduate degrees are known as Master of Liberal Arts (MLA), Master of Liberal Studies (MLS), Artium Liberalium Magister (ALM, or Art. Lib. Mgr.), Magister Artium Liberalium (Mgr. Art. Lib.), and Doctor of Liberal Studies (DLS). Characteristics that distinguish these degrees include curricular flexibility and interdisciplinary synthesis via a master's thesis or capstone project. Like other master's degree programs, students generally enroll in a master's in liberal studies only after receiving ...

North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency
The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) is a non-for-profit legal service which provides criminal law and civil law services to Aboriginal people and their families across the Northern Territory of Australia. Since 2019, it has operated the NT Custody Notification Service, whereby they are notified by NT Police when Indigenous Australians are taken into police custody. History In 1972 the first Aboriginal Legal Aid office in the Northern Territory was established in Darwin, for provision of services to Aboriginal people in the Top End, which led to the establishment of the North Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service (NAALAS) in 1973. Around the same time, Neville Perkins and others were setting up the Central Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service (CAALAS), which later became part of NAAJA. In 1985 the Katherine Regional Aboriginal Legal Aid Service (KRALAS) was established for the Katherine region, and in 1996 the MIWATJ Aboriginal legal Service (MALS) was ...

Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome
In medicine, the median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS, also known as celiac artery compression syndrome, celiac axis syndrome, celiac trunk compression syndrome or Dunbar syndrome) is a rare condition characterized by abdominal pain attributed to compression of the celiac artery and the celiac ganglia by the median arcuate ligament. The abdominal pain may be related to meals, may be accompanied by weight loss, and may be associated with an abdominal bruit heard by a clinician. The diagnosis of MALS is one of exclusion, as many healthy patients demonstrate some degree of celiac artery compression in the absence of symptoms. Consequently, a diagnosis of MALS is typically only entertained after more common conditions have been ruled out. Once suspected, screening for MALS can be done with ultrasonography and confirmed with computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) angiography. Treatment is generally surgical, the mainstay being open or laparoscopic division, or separatio ...

Mitsubishi Air Lubrication System
The Mitsubishi Air Lubrication System (MALS) is a system that reduces the viscous resistance component of the hull of ship by creating a layer of air bubbles below the hull of the ship. This reduces frictional resistance between the hull and the seawater. The system has been designed for bulk carriers and passenger ships. The blower uses a motor to generate the bubbles, and is mainly designed for use on flat hulls. A similar system is also made bSilverstream technologies It is expected to yield a 10-15% reduction of carbon dioxide Carbon dioxide ( chemical formula ) is a chemical compound made up of molecules that each have one carbon atom covalently double bonded to two oxygen atoms. Multiangle Light Scattering
Multiangle light scattering (MALS) describes a technique for measuring the light scattered by a sample into a plurality of angles. It is used for determining both the absolute molar mass and the average size of molecules in solution, by detecting how they scatter light. A collimated beam from a laser source is most often used, in which case the technique can be referred to as multiangle laser light scattering (MALLS). The insertion of the word ''laser'' was intended to reassure those used to making light scattering measurements with conventional light sources, such as Hg-arc lamps that low-angle measurements could now be made. Until the advent of lasers and their associated fine beams of narrow width, the width of conventional light beams used to make such measurements prevented data collection at smaller scattering angles. In recent years, since all commercial light scattering instrumentation use laser sources, this need to mention the light source has been dropped and the term ...
