M6 (Johannesburg)
M6 is a short metropolitan route in Randburg, South Africa. It begins in the western suburb of Glen Dayson and ends in the east on Bram Fischer Drive in Ferndale. Route The western terminus of the M6 begins as t-junction with Christian De Wet Road, Glen Dayson. It heads east through Randpark Ridge as John Vorster Road where it intersects and crosses Beyers Naudé Drive. It now becomes Ysterhout Drive and weaves its way through Randpark Ridge where it intersects and crosses President Fouche Drive/Rabie Street. Continuing east, now as Hans Schoeman Street in Bromhof, it crosses over N1 Western Bypass then the Klein Jukskei River and into Malanshof and reaches Malibongwe Drive. Crossing Malibongwe Drive, it becomes Hills Street heading east through Ferndale. The M6 then turns north into Main Road and then east into Bond Street. Randburg is an area located in the Gauteng, Gauteng province of South Africa. Formerly a separate municipality, its administration devolved to the newly created City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, along with neighbouring Sandton and Roodepoort, in the late 1990s. Randpark Ridge
Randpark Ridge is an upmarket suburb of Randburg, South Africa. It is located in the Randburg region (region C) of the City of Johannesburg. It fell into the town of Randburg during the apartheid era. Developed in the early 1980s and still relatively new, Randpark Ridge is bordered by several other suburbs including Weltevreden Park, Sundowner, Boskruin, Bromhof, Honeydew and Fairland. It is located on the north-west extremity of Johannesburg. Beyers Naudé Drive
Beyers Naudé Drive is a large arterial route in Johannesburg, South Africa. It starts at the University of Johannesburg in Auckland Park, travelling through Melville, Roosevelt Park, Northcliff, Blackheath and traversing the N1 Western Bypass at Randpark Ridge. It terminates at the N14 freeway near Muldersdrift. It was previously known as DF Malan Drive. It forms part of Johannesburg's M5 road. Background On old Johannesburg municipal maps, the rough roadway was called the Mulders Drift Road. Later it was renamed DF Malan Drive after the South African Prime Minister DF Malan. N1 Western Bypass
The Western Bypass is a section of the N1 and the Johannesburg Ring Road located in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. Known at the time as the ''Concrete Highway'', the freeway was initially opened in 1975 as a route to avoid the city centre of Johannesburg and to provide access to the western areas of the Witwatersrand. From the south, the Western Bypass begins at the Diepkloof Interchange in Soweto, where it splits from the N12 freeway and ends at the Buccleuch Interchange, where it merges with the N3 Eastern Bypass, M1 South and N1 Ben Schoeman freeways. The Western Bypass is the longest section of the Johannesburg Ring Road. The freeway is mostly four lanes wide in either direction, but fans out into six lanes between Rivonia and Buccleuch, where there is heavy traffic moving north towards Pretoria. Malibongwe Drive, formerly known as Hans Strijdom Drive ( af, Hans Strijdom-rylaan), is a major road that runs through an industrial area in the northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa. It connects Randburg with Northgate and Lanseria International Airport. ''Malibongwe'' is said to mean "be praised" or blessed and which the Johannesburg Development Agency says refers to the 1956 Women's March, a woman's march against the carrying of passes.
