M61 (Johannesburg)
The M61 is a long metropolitan route in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects Vereeniging with Alberton via Meyerton. For its entire route, it is an alternative route to the R59 Highway. Route The M61 begins in Vereeniging, Emfuleni Local Municipality, just north-east of the town centre (just west of the Three Rivers suburb), at a junction with the R54 Road. It begins by going north-north-east, following the Klip River, to cross the R59 Highway (Sybrand van Niekerk Freeway) and pass by the settlement of Redan. It continues north-north-east, parallel to the R59 Highway, to enter the town of Meyerton in the Midvaal Local Municipality and reach a T-junction with the R551 Road. The M61 joins the R551 and they are one road eastwards, crossing the R59 Highway again, before the M61 becomes its own road northwards (Morris Road) just before the Meyerton Town Centre. Vereeniging () is a town located in the south of Gauteng province, South Africa, situated where the Klip River empties into the northern loop of the Vaal River. Thokoza
Thokoza, formerly Tokoza, is a township in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. Thokoza is at the location of the now-defunct Palmietfontein Airport. It is situated south east of Alberton, adjacent to Katlehong. Thokoza was the first black township which was established in the South. During the early 1990s Thokoza was the middle of unrest between the supporters of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), rival party of the African National Congress (ANC). M7 is a metropolitan route in the Greater Johannesburg metropolitan area. The road connects Thokoza and the southern suburbs of Alberton with suburbs to the west of the Johannesburg CBD. Route The M7 begins at a t-junction with Hill Road east of Zonkizizwe. The R550 is a Regional Route in Gauteng, South Africa that connects Johannesburg South with Devon via Katlehong and Nigel. Route Its western terminus is a junction with the R82 and R554 roads in Johannesburg South, just south of Kibler Park and north of Walkerville (east of Lenasia). From there, the R550 goes south-east for 15 kilometres, following the Klip River, to reach a T-junction near a place named Kliprivier. Henley on Klip is a town in Midvaal Local Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated next to Highbury off exit 27 on the R59 along the Klip River between Johannesburg and Vereeniging. History The village was founded in 1904, by Advocate Horace Kent. Born in 1855 in Henley on Thames, England, Kent came to South Africa in 1898. The area where Henley on Klip is located reminded Kent of his hometown in England, Henley on Thames. Kent, in conjunction with the Small Farms Company (SFC), bought the land from a Mr Van Der Westhuizen for a price of 5000 pounds, and the land was divided into smallholdings from .
