M. M. Pareed Pillay
Manadath Mohammed Pillay Pareed Pillay is an Indian judge, jurist and lawyer who served as the 15th Chief Justice of Kerala. He was also appointed the first Chairman of the Kerala State Human Rights Commission in 1998 by the Governor of Kerala. Early life Pareed Pillay was born in Aluva to M. K. Mohammed Pillay, the younger brother of prominent industrialist and philanthropist M. K. Mackar Pillay. Pillay's brother, M. M. Kerala High Court
The High Court of Kerala is the highest court in the Indian state of Kerala and the Union territory of Lakshadweep. It is located in Kochi. Drawing its powers under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the High Court has the power to issue directions, orders and writs including the writs of ''habeas corpus'', ''mandamus'', ''prohibition'', ''quo warranto'' and ''certiorari'' for ensuring the enforcement of the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Constitution to citizens or for other specified purposes. Zail Singh
Giani Zail Singh (, born Jarnail Singh; 5 May 1916 – 25 December 1994) was an Indian politician from Punjab who served as the seventh president of India from 1982 to 1987. He was the first Sikh and the first person from a backward caste to become president. Born in Sandhwan in the princely state of Faridkot, Singh trained to be a granthi and was given the title of giani, meaning a learned man, while training at the Sikh Missionary School in Amritsar. Singh was associated with peasant agitations and the movement seeking a representative government in Faridkot. His political activism in the Praja Mandal, an organization allied with the Indian National Congress, saw him sentenced to solitary confinement between 1938 and 1943. He led the flag satyagraha and formed a parallel government in Faridkot State which were called off only after the intervention of Jawaharlal Nehru and Vallabhbhai Patel. Aluva (; also known by its former name Alwaye) is a town in the Ernakulam District in Kerala, India. The Kerala State Human Rights Commission was constituted on 11 December 1998 with the appointment of the first Chairperson Justice M.M. Pareed Pillay, a former Chief Justice Kerala High Court along with Dr. S. Balaraman and Shri. T.K. Wilson as supporting members by notification S.R.O No. 1066/1998 Dt: 11-12-98.
