M. David Mullen
M. David Mullen, A.S.C. (born Meritt David Mullen III; 26 June 1962) is a Japanese-born American cinematographer known for his photography on '' Twin Falls Idaho'', ''Northfork'', '' Akeelah and the Bee'', ''The Astronaut Farmer'', ''Jennifer's Body'', and ''The Love Witch'', and for numerous television series, including ''The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'' for which he won an Emmy Award. He often collaborates with The Polish brothers. He studied cinematography at the California Institute of the Arts from 1988 to 1991. His mentor was Krzysztof Malkiewicz; he later collaborated with him on ''Cinematography'' (Third Edition), an essential guidebook for film production techniques. By the time he entered CalArts, he was 27 years old and well versed in the technical side of cinematography, having learned everything he could from the UCLA film library. Iwakuni
is a city located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. History Iwakuni was formerly the castle town of the Iwakuni han, which was formed by Lord Hiroie Kikkawa after he was banished there for supporting the defeated shōgun. The Kikkawa clan ruled the han during the Edo period. The han was originally assessed at 30 thousand koku, and later, 60 thousand. Iwakuni han prospered for 300 years up until the Meiji Restoration. Before being re-founded with the same name following the mergers in 2006, the city was first founded on April 1, 1940. On March 20, 2006, Iwakuni absorbed the towns of Kuga, Mikawa, Miwa, Nishiki, Shūtō and Yū, and the village of Hongō (all from Kuga District) to create the new and expanded city of Iwakuni. The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) is a private art university in Santa Clarita, California. It was incorporated in 1961 as the first degree-granting institution of higher learning in the US created specifically for students of both the visual and performing arts.
