M-League System
The Malaysian football league system, also known as the Malaysian football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for men's association football clubs in Malaysia. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, allowing even the smallest club the hypothetical possibility of ultimately rising to the very top of the system. The FAM Cup (Malay: Piala FAM) was a knock-out tournament for teams in both the Malaysia M3 League and the Malaysia M4 League in Malaysia. Malaysia Challenge Cup
The Malaysia Challenge Cup ( Malay: ''Piala Cabaran Malaysia'') is a Malaysian football competition held under the auspices of the Malaysian Football League and the Football Association of Malaysia. The tournament was created for Malaysia Super League and Malaysia Premier League teams that did not qualify for the Malaysia Cup tournament through their league standings at the end of the league season. The idea was mooted by Football Malaysia in December 2017 as a solution to inactivity for the teams that did not qualify for the more prestigious Malaysia Cup. The Malaysia FA Cup ( ms, Piala FA) is an annual national knock-out football tournament in Malaysia. The cup was first held in 1990. The competition was previously managed by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), before being transferred to Football Malaysia LLP (MFL) (now known as Malaysian Football League) in the 2016 season. The cup is contested among the clubs from the Malaysia Super League, Malaysia Premier League, Malaysia M3 League and Malaysia M4 League. The preliminary and first rounds are played between the clubs that qualified from the M3 and M4 League. The winners advance to the second round and join the rest of the clubs. The Piala Belia ( en, Youth Cup) is a youth football competition for Under-19 players in Malaysia. The competition consists of youth squads from clubs competing in the Malaysian football league system and also youth squads from sports schools under the management of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). The competition exists alongside the developmental competition for Under-21 players, the Piala Presiden. History Since its inception in 2008, the Piala Belia has been a major tournament for Under-19 players. In 2009 to 2011, the competition was combined with the Piala Presiden. The Piala Presiden ( en, President Cup) is a developmental football competition in Malaysia for Under-21 players. The cup consists of developmental squad from clubs competing in the top and second division of Malaysian football league system, the Malaysia Super League and the Malaysia Premier League. The cup exists alongside the youth competition for Under-19 players, the Piala Belia. History Since its inception in 1985, Piala Presiden has been the major tournament for Under-21 and Under-23 players.
