M-231 (Michigan Highway)
M-231 is the designation of a Michigan State Trunkline Highway System, state trunkline highway in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, Lower Peninsula of the US state of Michigan that serves as a partial bypass to U.S. Route 31 in Michigan, US Highway 31 (US 31) around Grand Haven, Michigan, Grand Haven. This highway was built south of Interstate 96 (I-96) as an additional crossing over the Grand River (Michigan), Grand River. The route runs from M-45 (Michigan highway), M-45 northward and across the river to a connection with I-96 near the current M-104 (Michigan highway), M-104 interchange. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced the proposed highway in early November 2006. Cornelis Piet "Pete" Hoekstra (; born October 30, 1953) is a Dutch-American politician who served as the United States Ambassador to the Netherlands from January 10, 2018, to January 17, 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the U.S. representative for Michigan's 2nd congressional district from 1993 to 2011. Born in the Netherlands, Hoekstra immigrated to the United States as a child.
