M. Manogaran
Manogaran s/o Marimuthu (born 14 July 1959), commonly referred to as M. Manogaran is a Malaysian politician. He was the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Teluk Intan, Perak, for one term from 2008 to 2013, as a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition previously and governing Pakatan Harapan (PH) presently. Manogaran is a lawyer by profession. In the 2008 general election, Manogaran won the Parliamentary constituency of Teluk Intan, Perak on a DAP ticket. He ran against the incumbent, Mah Siew Keong, Deputy Minister of Agriculture & Agro-based Industries and Youth Chief of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan). ''Interlok'' is a 1971 Malay language novel written by Malaysian national laureate Abdullah Hussain. The novel was included in the syllabus for the Malay Literature subject as compulsory reading for students in Form 5 (Secondary 5) in schools throughout Malaysia. ''Interlok'' caused a controversy when detractors claim that the novel contained derogatory words to describe Malaysian Indians, such as "pariah" and "black people". The largest Malaysian Indian political party, the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), demanded that the novel be removed from the school syllabus. Batu Caves
Batu Caves ( ta, பத்து மலை : Pathumalai) is a mogote (a type of karst landform) that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word ''batu'', meaning 'rock'. The hill was originally known as ''Kapal Tanggang'' from the legend of Si Tanggang. The town nearby is named after the Batu Caves limestone formation. The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. 2019 Cameron Highlands By-election
A by-election was held on 26 January 2019 for the Dewan Rakyat seat of Cameron Highlands. The seat became vacant after the Election Court on 30 November 2018 declared the incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) Member of Parliament of Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) Dato' Sivarraajh Chandran's victory in the seat null and void because it was found that corrupt practices were committed in the 14th general election. The court found Sivarraajh guilty of bribing of between RM30 and RM1,000 to the Orang Asli community voters prior to the election as established beyond reasonable doubt in the election petition filed by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidate M.
