László Schell
László Schell (born 9 February 1948) is a Hungarian retired ice hockey official. He officiated more than 1,500 games in Hungary between 1967 and 1990, and was one of the busiest International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) officials from 1977 to 1982 at the Ice Hockey World Championships. His career was recognized with induction into both the IIHF Hall of Fame, and Hungarian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame. Early life Schell was born 9 February 1948 in Budapest, and grew up in the Zugló district. He played hockey within the Budapesti VSC, but later realized it was not his strength. He stopped playing at the same time the Hungarian Ice Sports Association held a course for ice hockey officials. Referee career Schell became a certified referee, and went on to officiate more than 1,500 games in the Hungarian national championship between 1967 and 1990. 1982 Ice Hockey World Championships
The 1982 Ice Hockey World Championships took place in Finland from the 15 April to the 29 April. The games were played in Helsinki and Tampere with eight teams playing a single round-robin, followed by the top four teams playing each other once more. This was the 48th World Championships, and also the 59th European Championships of ice hockey. The Soviet Union became World Champions for the 18th time, and also won their 21st European Championship. The tournament is notable since Canada, reinforced by Wayne Gretzky after the Edmonton Oilers were shockingly knocked out of the Stanley Cup playoffs by Los Angeles, would have won the silver medal if the Soviet team had beaten Czechoslovakia in the final game. György Pásztor
György Pásztor (: 2 March 192322 August 2022) was a Hungarian ice hockey player and sports administrator. He won four Hungarian championships as a player, and was a member of the Hungary men's national team. He later served as president of the Hungarian Ice Sports Association, helped establish the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation, and was a member of the Hungarian Olympic Committee. He was a delegate to the International Ice Hockey Federation, and was chairman of its medical committee for 12 years, overseeing tests for doping in sport. He was inducted into both the IIHF Hall of Fame, and the Hungarian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
