László Nagy (handballer)
László Nagy (born 3 March 1981) is a former Hungarian handball player who played for Telekom Veszprém, FC Barcelona, Pick Szeged and the Hungarian national team. Among his achievements at club level are several Spanish championships and cup titles and he also won the EHF Champions League, the top continental competition in Europe two times (2005, 2011). With the Hungarian national team, Nagy's best results are two fourth places from the 2004 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics Nagy was voted by the readers of the handball journal ''Handball Planet'' as the world's best male player in 2011. On 10 May 2019 after 22 years of professional career, Laszló announced his retirement and took over as the sports director of Telekom Veszprém from the summer of 2019. 2011 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2011 World Men's Handball Championship, the 22nd event hosted by the International Handball Federation, was held in Sweden from 13 to 30 January 2011. All matches were played in Malmö, Lund, Kristianstad, Gothenburg, Skövde, Jönköping, Linköping and Norrköping. In the preliminary round, 24 teams from all the world's continents were split into 4 groups, with the first-placed 3 teams advancing through the main round in two groups, carrying the previously won points against the remaining teams. France won the tournament after defeating Denmark in the final, while Spain won the bronze medal after defeating Sweden in the third-place match. Thus, France has qualified for the tournament at the London Olympics. The teams that finished in 2nd–7th place will play Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. 2019 World Men's Handball Championship – European Qualification
The European qualification for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship, in Denmark and Germany, was contested in two rounds among the teams that did not qualify for the 2018 European Men's Handball Championship and the 12 teams that did play this tournament but was not already qualified and failed to qualify through it. In the first round of qualification, 23 teams not participating at the European Championship were split into six groups; the group winners advanced to the second round, joining the 12 European finalists not already qualified for the 2019 World Championships (Denmark and Germany has qualified as hosts, France has qualified as defending champions and Spain has qualified as the European Champion). Handball At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's handball tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 28 July to 12 August at the Olympic Park. The group stage matches were held at the Copper Box and the knockout rounds took place at the larger Basketball Arena. Twelve nations were represented in the tournament. The four best teams from each group advanced to a quarter-final round, while the 5th and 6th teams in each group were classified 9th–12th by the results of their group matches. The European Men's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior men's national handball teams of Europe and takes place every two years since 1994, in the even-numbered year between the World Championship. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. World Men's Handball Championship
The IHF Men's Handball World Championship has been organized indoor by the International Handball Federation since 1938. In the twenty-seven tournaments held, eleven nations have won the title. France is the most successful team with six titles, followed by Sweden and Romania with four titles each. The current champion is Denmark, which won its second title at the 2021 tournament in Egypt.
