Lynne Walker (politician)
Lynne Michele Walker (born 19 June 1962) is an Australian politician. She was a Labor member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2016, representing the seat of Nhulunbuy Walker was an outspoken critic of the former Country Liberals' government's management of the closure at the Rio Tinto aluminum refinery. On 23 April 2015, Walker was installed as deputy leader under Michael Gunner, and hence Deputy Leader of the Opposition, following the Northern Territory leadership challenge. Walker was widely tipped to become Deputy Chief Minister following the 2016 Territory election. Not only was Labor been far ahead of the governing CLP in polling, but Walker sat on a seemingly insurmountable majority of 13.7 percent. Nhulunbuy was an electoral divisions of the Northern Territory, electoral division of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1974, and is named after the remote Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory, town of the same name. Nhulunbuy is a rural electorate on the Territory's northeast coast, covering and taking in the towns of Nhulunbuy, Galiwinku, Northern Territory, Galiwinku, Yirrkala, Northern Territory, Yirrkala and Gapuwiyak, Northern Territory, Gapuwiyak. There were 5,895 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2016. The division was abolished in 2020, and replaced by the Electoral division of Mulka, division of Mulka. The 2020 Northern Territory general election was held on 22 August 2020 to elect all 25 members of the Legislative Assembly in the unicameral Northern Territory Parliament. Members were elected through full preferential instant-runoff voting in single-member electorates, after the optional preferential voting system introduced for the 2016 election was abolished by the ''Electoral Legislation Amendment Act 2019'' in April 2019. Antony Green
Antony John Green (born 2 March 1960) is an Australian psephologist and commentator. He is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's chief election analyst. Early years and background Born in Warrington, Lancashire, in northern England, Green emigrated to Australia with his family in 1964. He attended James Ruse Agricultural High School in Sydney, graduating in 1977. Green graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computing, and a Bachelor of Economics with honours in politics from the University of Sydney. He worked initially as a data analyst in the computing industry and for a polling company before joining the ABC in 1989. Green recalls he saw an ad for a six-month position as an ABC election researcher and applied, along with 150 other applicants.
