Lynn Findley
Lynn P. Findley (born 1952) is an American politician serving as a member of the Oregon State Senate. He represents the 30th district, which covers much of Eastern Oregon. Biography Findley was born in Vale, graduating from Vale High School in 1970 and then from Treasure Valley Community College. He worked with the Bureau of Land Management for 32 years, retiring in 2003. He also has served on many planning and development commissions in southeastern Oregon. In 2012, Findley ran for Malheur County commissioner, losing the Republican primary. He was appointed interim Malheur County Justice of the Peace in August 2012, following the incumbent's death, and served until January 2013, when an elected successor took office. Findley served as city manager of Vale from July 2013 until January 2018. District 30 of the Oregon State Senate comprises all of Baker, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Malheur, and Wheeler counties, as well as parts of Deschutes, Lake, and Wasco counties. Malheur County
Malheur County () is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 31,571. Its county seat is Vale, and its largest city is Ontario. The county was named after the Malheur River, which runs through the county. The word "malheur" is French for misfortune or tragedy. Malheur County is included in the Ontario, Oregon Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Boise Combined Statistical Area. It is included in the eight-county definition of Eastern Oregon. History Malheur County was created February 17, 1887, from the southern territory of Baker County. It was first settled by miners and stockmen in the early 1860s. The discovery of gold in 1863 attracted further development, including settlements and ranches.
