Lynn Afendoulis
Lynn Afendoulis (born November 3, 1958) is an American politician from the state of Michigan. A Republican, she served as a member of Michigan House of Representatives from the 73rd district from 2019 to 2021. Early life and education Afendoulis was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of a restaurant owner and teacher. Afendoulis is of Greek ancestry: her grandparents are ethnic Greek immigrants from Greece and Turkey. Afendoulis attended Miami University before earning a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Michigan State University. Career Media career In 1981, Afendoulis started her career as a reporter for ''The Grand Rapids Press'' until 1987. In 1987, Afendoulis became a reporter for ''The Tampa Tribune'' until 1989. WZZM (channel 13) is a television station licensed to Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States, serving West Michigan as an affiliate of ABC. Owned by Tegna Inc., the station has studios on 3 Mile Road NW in Walker (with a Grand Rapids mailing address), and its transmitter is located in Grant, Michigan. WZZM's transmitter is about north of other stations in the Grand Rapids market, and its over-the-air signal is unavailable in the market's two other major cities (Kalamazoo and Battle Creek) as a result. Since April 2009, however, WZZM has been available on most cable providers in Southwest Michigan, even though Battle Creek-based WOTV (channel 41, owned by Nexstar Media Group) serves as the ABC affiliate for that part of the Grand Rapids market. 2018 Michigan House Of Representatives Election
An election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor and Senate. The primary election was held on August 7, 2018. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, after a net loss of five seats, winning 58 seats compared to 52 seats for the Democrats. Term-limited members Under the Michigan Constitution, members of the state Senate are able to serve only two four-year terms, and members of the House of Representatives are limited to three two-year terms, some of the toughest term-limit laws in the country. After the 2018 mid-term elections, nearly 70 percent of the state Senate and 20 percent of the state House were forced to leave office because of term-limits. Grand Rapids Charter Township, Michigan
Grand Rapids Charter Township is a charter township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 16,661 at the 2010 census. The township is bordered by Grand Rapids to the west and East Grand Rapids to the southwest, but the township is administered autonomously. Communities * Northview is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) with a very small portion located within Grand Rapids Township.
