Lynette Lancini
Lynette Lancini, born Lismore, 1970, is an Australian composer of a variety of works including orchestral, chamber, piano and vocal music. Biography Lynette Lancini studied music at the University of Queensland, the Australian Music Examinations Board, and the Queensland University of Technology. She is mostly self-taught as a composer, and she developed her lyrical neo folk/baroque musical style as a member of the new music collective Music for the Heart and Mind in the 1990s, with composers such as Robert Davidson (composer), Robert Davidson, Tom Adeney, Jo-Anne Abbott, and Roland Adeney. Lancini is a certified Wholebody Focusing Trainer, the practice of which has modified her style from abstract concert music towards more experimental, inner-directed and collaborative approaches. Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (formerly the Queensland Conservatorium of Music) is a selective, audition based music school located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and is part of Griffith University. History The Conservatorium was established by the state government and opened on 18 February 1957, with English composer William Lovelock as director. The school was originally located in South Brisbane Town Hall. In 1971 the Conservatorium became autonomous from the state government as a College of Advanced Education, and in 1975 relocated to a new complex at Gardens Point. The school opened a second campus in Mackay in 1989, which became part of Central Queensland University in 1995. The Dawkins Revolution led to the Conservatorium becoming an institution of Griffith University in 1991. The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) is a federated, privately funded corporation which provides a program of examinations for music, speech and drama in Australia. The organisation had its beginnings at the Universities of Melbourne and Adelaide in 1887 and later became a national body in 1918. It now has six state offices as well as a Federal Office in Melbourne. The Federal Board consists of representatives of educational institutions that are signatories to the AMEB constitution. These are the Universities of Melbourne, Adelaide and Western Australia, the Minister for Education and Training, New South Wales, the Minister for Education, Training and Employment, Queensland and the Minister for Education and Skills, Tasmania through the University of Tasmania.
