Lydia Babirye
Lydia Babirye (born November 21, 2004) is a Ugandan basketball player who plays as a guard for Evangel University Athletics and Uganda women's national basketball team. Career history Babirye attended Victory Christian Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she played basketball from 2018 to 2019 season to 2022–2023 season. She joined the Evangel University for the 2023–2024 season. She was part of the Evangel University squad the plays against Ottawa University on 21 February 2024. Uganda national team Babirye first represented Uganda in 2019 during FIBA U16 women's African championship and was called to the senior national team in 2023 during 2023 women's Afrobasket. Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Evangel University
Evangel University is a private Christian university and seminary in Springfield, Missouri. It is affiliated with the Assemblies of God Christian denomination, which is also headquartered in Springfield. The campus sits on that were originally part of O'Reilly General Hospital. The 2023 AfroBasket Women was the 28th edition of the tournament and held from 28 July to 5 August 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. Nigeria won their fourth consecutive and sixth overall title after defeating Senegal in the final. Format The 12 teams were split into four groups of three teams. The first-placed team qualified to the quarterfinals while the other two teams played in a playoff round. A second-placed team faced off against a third-placed team and vice versa. A knockout-system was used after the preliminary round and the losing teams of the quarterfinals were playing classification games while the winners played out the champion.
