Lutz Jump
The Lutz is a figure skating jump, named after Alois Lutz, an Austrian skater who performed it in 1913. It is a toepick-assisted jump with an entrance from a back outside edge and landing on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. It is the second-most difficult jump and the second-most famous jump after the Axel. Figure Skating Jumps
Figure skating jumps are an element of three competitive figure skating disciplines: men's singles, women's singles, and pair skatingbut not ice dancing. Jumping in figure skating is "relatively recent". They were originally individual compulsory figures, and sometimes special figures; many jumps were named after the skaters who invented them or from the figures from which they were developed. It was not until the early part of the 20th century, well after the establishment of organized skating competitions, when jumps with the potential of being completed with multiple revolutions were invented and when jumps were formally categorized. 2011 NHK Trophy
The 2011 NHK Trophy was the fourth event of six in the 2011–12 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Makomanai Sekisui Heim Ice Arena in Sapporo from November 10–13. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. 2005 Canadian Figure Skating Championships
The 2005 Canadian Figure Skating Championships took place from January 17 through 23rd, 2005 at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario. It is a figure skating national championship held annually to determine the national champions of Canada and is organized by Skate Canada, the nation's figure skating governing body. Skaters competed at the senior and junior levels in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Although the official ISU terminology for female skaters in the singles category is ''ladies'', Skate Canada's official terminology is ''women'' and that is the term used in the official results. Ryan Arnold
Ryan Arnold (born September 18, 1984) is a Canadian pair skater. He competed with Carla Montgomery and Meagan Duhamel. In both partnerships, he was coached by Lee Barkell. With Montgomery, Arnold qualified twice for the Junior Grand Prix Final and twice placed in the top ten at the World Junior Championships. He teamed up with Meagan Duhamel in the spring of 2004. They were the first pair to land a side-by-side triple Lutz jump in competition, which they achieved at the 2005 Canadian Figure Skating Championships. Meagan Duhamel (born December 8, 1985) is a Canadian pair skater. With partner Eric Radford, she is a two-time world champion (2015, 2016), a 2018 Olympic gold medallist in the team event, a 2014 Olympic silver medallist in the team event, a 2018 Olympic bronze medallist in the pairs event, a two-time Four Continents champion (2013, 2015), the 2014–15 Grand Prix Final champion, and a seven-time Canadian national champion (2012–18). Jin Boyang (; ; born 3 October 1997) is a Chinese figure skater. Toe Loop Jump
The toe loop jump is the simplest jump in the sport of figure skating. It was invented in the 1920s by American professional figure skater Bruce Mapes. The toe loop is accomplished with a forward approach on the inside edge of the blade; the skater then switches to a backward-facing position before their takeoff, which is accomplished from the skater's right back outside edge and left toepick. The jump is exited from the back outside edge of the same foot. It is often added to more difficult jumps during combinations and is the most common second jump performed in combinations. Brandon Mroz
Brandon Mroz (born December 22, 1990) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 2009 U.S. silver medalist and the 2006 & 2007 Junior Grand Prix Final silver medalist. He is the first skater to have completed a quadruple Lutz jump in a sanctioned competition. Personal life Brandon Mroz was born in St. Louis, Missouri, one of four brothers. His mother and a brother suffered serious injuries in a car accident. Mroz's mother was at one time a synchronized skater, and his father an ice hockey player. Mroz has expressed interest in becoming a dentist. Career Early career Mroz began skating at age 3 and a half.
