Luten Bridge Company
Luten Bridge Company and variations such as Luten Engineering Company was the name of a number of different bridge building companies in the United States during the early- to mid-20th century. Each had rights to build concrete Luten arch bridges, according to the patented designs of Daniel B. Luten, of Indianapolis. One that distributed a brochure in 1921 and that was prolific in Tennessee had offices in York, Pennsylvania, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, in Huntington, West Virginia, in Atlanta, Georgia, and in Palatka, Florida. It built the seven span Harriman Bridge in Tennessee. The Luten Bridge Company is documented to have built 71 bridges in Tennessee. The Luten Engineering Company was Daniel Luten's own firm during a certain period. Some of these firms also built other bridge designs. Luten Arch
A Luten arch is a patented concrete arch design for bridges, designed by Daniel B. Luten, of Indianapolis. Luten was awarded more than 30 patents for his improvements of the Luten arch design. The Luten arch improves upon preceding concrete arch designs by strategic use of reinforcement where needed to address tension of load upon the bridge. This enables bridges to be considerably lighter. The Luten Bridge Company was one seller of the designs. The Topeka Bridge & Iron Co. was a western seller of the designs. According to Luten, by 1919 he had designed more than 17,000 Luten arch bridges, and there were examples in all but three US states.P.A.C. Ouachita River Bridge (Arkadelphia, Arkansas)
The Ouachita River Bridge is a steel Parker through truss bridge carrying Arkansas Highway 7 and Arkansas Highway 51 across the Ouachita River at Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The trusses of the bridge were manufactured in 1933 by the Luten Bridge Company, and were first used to carry Highways 7 and US 67 over the Caddo River. That bridge was disassembled in the 1950s, and the trusses were stored until used to build this bridge in 1960. The main trusses span , while the approaches combined measure , giving the bridge a total length of . The deck is concrete laid on steel girders and is wide. Marr's Creek Bridge
The Marr's Creek Bridge is a historic bridge spanning Marr's Creek in Pocahontas, Arkansas. The concrete open spandrel deck arch bridge formerly carried U.S. Route 67 (US 67), which now passes over the creek on an adjacent modern steel and concrete structure. When built in 1934 by the Public Works Administration, the bridge had a total length of , with six spans, including the main arch across the creek. Savoy (formerly Ladds Mill) is an unincorporated community in Litteral Township, Washington County, Arkansas, United States. It is located on County Route 845 east of Lake Wedington. The Ozark National Forest is just west of the community. The Savoy area is marked with bluffs and streams. A distinctive feature is the dam on Clear Creek where a flour mill was once in operation.
