Lurøya, Nordland
Lurøya is an island in the municipality of Lurøy in Nordland county, Norway. The island is located just west of the island of Stigen, Nordland, Stigen and just north of the island of Onøya. Lurøya has a bridge connection to Onøya. The village of Lurøy is located on Lurøya, and that is the administrative centre of the municipality. Lurøy Church is located on the southwest side of the island. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Lurøyfjellet. In 2017, there were 138 residents of the island. Onøya
Onøya is an island in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies immediately south of the island of Lurøya and southwest of the island of Stigen. The island is connected to Lurøya by a short bridge. Onøya sits just west of the mouth of the Sjona fjord. It is only accessible by boat. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Stokksvikfjellet. In 2017, there were 279 residents of the island. Lurøy Church
Lurøy Church ( no, Lurøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the south side of the village of Lurøy on the island of Lurøya. It is the main church for the Lurøy parish which is part of the Nord-Helgeland prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1812. The church seats about 375 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church parish date back to the year 1432, but the church was not new that year. Around the year 1435, the old church was replaced with a new timber-framed cruciform building on the same site. During the 1630s, the church underwent major repairs. Again in 1647, more repairs were carried out. In 1653–1654, the church was repaired again and a new entry porch was built. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.
