Onøya
Onøya is an island in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The administrative centre of Lurøy Municipality is located on the northwestern coast of the island. The island lies immediately south of the island of Lurøya, Nordland, Lurøya and southwest of the island of Stigen, Nordland, Stigen. The island is connected to Lurøya by a short bridge. Onøya sits just west of the mouth of the Sjona fjord. It is only accessible by boat. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Stokksvikfjellet. Stokkvågen is a village and ferry port located in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village lies on the mainland coast of Lurøy, about west of the town of Mo i Rana. Lurøy Church
Lurøy Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lurøy Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the south side of the village of Lurøy on the island of Lurøya. It is the main church for the Lurøy parish which is part of the Nord-Helgeland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1812. The church seats about 375 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church parish date back to the year 1432, but the church was not new that year. Around the year 1435, the old church was replaced with a new timber-framed cruciform building on the same site. During the 1630s, the church underwent major repairs. Again in 1647, more repairs were carried out. In 1653–1654, the church was repaired again and a new entry porch was built. Formannskapsdistrikt
() was the name of a Norwegian self-governing municipality. The name was used from the establishment these municipalities in 1838 until the name fell out of use in 1863. The municipalities had their legal basis from two laws enacted on 14 January 1837. The laws established two types of ; one for cities () and one for rural districts (). These districts were mostly based on the former parishes. City municipalities had a monopoly on trade in both the municiality and for surrounding districts.
