Luke Becker
Luke Becker (born 11 February 1999) is a speedway rider from the United States. Career Becker began his British career riding for Wolverhampton Wolves in 2019. Unable to ride during 2020 because of Covid-19 cancelled season, he continued to ride for Wolverhampton during the SGB Premiership 2021. In 2022, he rode for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the SGB Premiership 2022. After being named Wolves Rider of the Year he signed for the club for the 4th consecutive season, competing in the SGB Premiership 2023. International Becker made his international debut for the United States in the 2019 Speedway of Nations, scoring 11 points. He also represented the United States in 2021 and 2022. Brentwood is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. It is located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Wolverhampton Wolves are a British speedway team based in Wolverhampton, England. They are sponsored by Parry's International Travel, and signed a deal with owner Dave Parry (previous speedway rider for the Wolverhampton Wolves) for the 2008 season onwards. The team is managed by Peter Adams and the promoter of the club is Chris Van Straaten. History 1928–1960 The club was founded in 1928 racing at Monmore Green Stadium, and after a brief flirtation with speedway, saw its last pre-war meeting in 1930. It was 20 years later that the sport returned to the town. During 1948 and the post-war optimism, record crowds were attending speedway events up and down the country. With towns keen to cash in on the boom, Wolverhampton's stadium owners applied to the local council for a track to be re-built at the original site. Orzeł Łódź (''Eagle Lodz'') is a Polish motorcycle speedway team based in Łódź who currently race in the Polish Speedway First League (1. Liga). The club's full name is H. Skrzydlewska Eagle Lodz. History of speedway in Łódź Tramwajarz Łódź and DKS Łódź Speedway in Łódź began in 1948 with two clubs called Tramwajarz Łódź (tram drivers) and DKS Łódź. Both Tramwajarz and DKS competed in the inaugural 1948 Polish speedway season. Three years later the club moved to Bytom and changed their name to Ogniwo, before returning a year later. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). SGB Premiership 2021
The SGB Premiership 2021 was the 86th season of the top division, called the SGB Premiership, of the British speedway championship in 2021. Six teams participated. Team changes Changes from the 2019 league season saw the Swindon Robins (the 2019 champions) not fielding a team due to the uncertainty surrounding the Swindon Stadium. The Poole Pirates dropped down to the next league down, the SGB Championship but Sheffield Tigers joined the league after previously competing in the SGB Championship 2019. The league started on 17 May and race meetings were covered by Eurosport. Peterborough Panthers finished top of the regular season table by just one point, overtaking the long time leaders Wolverhampton Wolves. By virtue of finishing top they elected to play Wolves in the play off semi finals rather than the third or fourth placed teams Belle Vue and Sheffield. The 2022 SGB Premiership was the 87th season of the top tier of British Speedway and the 5th known as the SGB Premiership. Sheffield Tigers topped the regular season table and met Belle Vue Aces in the play off final but Belle Vue ran out the winners to claim their 13th league title. 2022 Summary The same six clubs as 2021 competed for the league championship, with Swindon once again sitting out due to the development of their stadium. The 2023 Sports Insure SGB Premiership is the 88th season of the top tier of British speedway and the 6th known as the SGB Premiership. There was an increase of one team after the Leicester Lions opted to move up from the SGB Championship. 2023 summary Seven clubs will compete for the league championship, with Leicester Lions joining the from the division below. Each club will race against each other four times (home and away twice), meaning a total of 24 fixtures each. The 'Super Heat' scoring system was retained from the 2022 season, however extra points for away fixtures have been scrapped in favour of an aggregate bonus point. The top four teams in the league will qualify for the playoffs, with the two semi-final winners then reaching the Grand Final. 2019 Speedway Of Nations
The 2019 Speedway of Nations was the second FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition consisted of two race-off events and a two-legged final. The event was won by Russia for the second consecutive year. They beat Poland in the Grand Final with Australia taking the bronze medal. Format The 2019 Speedway of Nations was a pairs event, with each nation being represented by two senior riders and one rider under the age of 21. Each meeting was staged over 21 heats with the scores from each rider added together to give a total for each nation. The two race-off events consisted of seven teams, with three qualifying for the final. The final, which included hosts and defending champions Russia, was staged over two legs with the scores from each added together. 2021 Speedway Of Nations
The 2021 Speedway of Nations (sponsored by Monster Energy) was the fourth FIM Speedway of Nations. The competition consisted of two semi-finals and a final. The final was held on 16 & 17 October 2021 and was won by Great Britain, with Poland taking silver and Denmark bronze. During the final Poland took a first leg lead of ten points ahead of Great Britain. Britain's multiple world champion Tai Woffinden suffered an injury after crashing heavily and was replaced by Dan Bewley for the second leg. Denmark topped the points table during the second leg but Poland earned an automatic place in the grand final after finishing with the highest total from the two legs. This meant that Denmark and Great Britain would take part in the eliminator as the second and third best teams, which Britain won by 6 points to 3. In the grand final, former world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik came out on top but he was followed home by Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley, giving Britain the title by 5 points to 4. ...
