Lucky 7 Records
Lucky Seven Records were founded by the British band Madness. The launch of this new record label enabled them to release their new material. So far the label has released six Madness singles including " Sorry", "NW5", "Dust Devil", " Sugar and Spice", " Forever Young", "My Girl 2" and the albums '' The Liberty of Norton Folgate'', which returned Madness to the top ten of the UK Albums Chart, ''Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da'' and '' Can't Touch Us Now''. Lucky Seven Records is not the first Madness Label to be set up. Zarjazz Records, a sub label of Virgin Records released the Madness album, ''Mad Not Mad'', music from the Fink Brothers along with Feargal Sharkey's first single. Madness are an English ska and pop band from Camden Town, North London, who formed in 1976. Sorry (Madness Song)
"Sorry" is a single by the English ska band Madness, released in March 2007 as a stand-alone single, not included on any album. Unusually for Madness, it is a song that was written for them by outside writers—all previous Madness singles had been either original compositions by the band, or covers of previously existing tunes. "Sorry" was given to them by their new management group to fill the gap between The Dangermen Sessions Vol. 1 and The Liberty of Norton Folgate; Madness themselves worked on the song enough to gain a co-writer credit on the finished track. In an attempt to gain more air play from a variety of radio stations, two different versions of the song were issued. One version featured just the band, while a second featured an interlude from UK rap artists Sway DaSafo and Baby Blue. Sugar And Spice (Madness Song)
"Sugar and Spice" is a single by the band Madness, released on 3 August 2009. It is the third single from the album The Liberty of Norton Folgate and is the first ever Madness single to be released only digitally. The version of Sugar and Spice featured in the single release differs slightly from the version included in the album, as it has a different opening verse and words differ throughout the song. The B-side included in the release is the demo version of Sugar and Spice featuring keyboard player Mike Barson on vocals; it also includes an extra verse. This is the second time a Madness release has featured Mike Barson on vocals after a demo version of My Girl was released on the 12-inch version of "The Return of the Los Palmas 7" in 1981. "Forever Young" is a single by the band Madness, released on 18 January 2010. It was the fourth and last single to be taken from the album The Liberty of Norton Folgate, peaking at #199 in the UK. The Liberty Of Norton Folgate
''The Liberty of Norton Folgate'' is the ninth studio album by the British band Madness, released on 18 May 2009. The band worked on the album for close to three years and it was their first album of new material since 1999's '' Wonderful''. Content The 10-minute title track recounts the social history of a corner of east London that until 1900 was controlled by St Paul's Cathedral. As a "liberty" it was not legally independent, but the rights of the Crown over the land had been waived. A shortened version of the track "The Liberty of Norton Folgate" was made available on YouTube in mid May 2008. In December a boxset of the album was offered for pre-order on the Madness website; those who ordered were entitled to a digital download of the album on 20 December. Twenty-three tracks were recorded for the album, of which fifteen made it on to the album to be released in May. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. ''Can't Touch Us Now'' is the eleventh studio album by the British band Madness, released on their Lucky 7 Records label through Universal Music Catalogue (UMC) on 28 October 2016. The album marked the return of founder member Mark Bedford but the departure of Cathal Smyth (Chas Smash). The album received supportive reviews from a variety of publications. For example, critic Jon Dennis of ''The Guardian'' labelled the group "legends" and described them as being "as entertaining as ever" in the release. The song "Pam the Hawk" was highlighted in particular for its lyrical themes. A special collector's edition box set version of ''Can't Touch Us Now'' was released simultaneously with the album under the title "The Greatest Show on Earth". Zarjazz Records
Zarjazz was a record label and sub-label of Virgin Records. Zarjazz was formed in 1984 by Madness, a British ska band. The label's first release was Feargal Sharkey's hit single "Listen to Your Father", on which Madness (minus Suggs) performed as Sharkey's backing group. Zarjazz also achieved success with album and single releases by Madness themselves, and with the charity record 'Starvation' (credited as Starvation) featuring members of Madness, UB40, the Pioneers and General Public. The record label dissolved in 1986. Other Zarjazz artists were the Fink Brothers (Suggs and Chas Smash), Charm School, and Tom Morley. Virgin Records is a record label owned by Universal Music Group. It originally founded as a British independent record label in 1972 by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and musician Tom Newman.
