Lucius Postumius Albinus (consul 154 BC)
Lucius Postumius Albinus was a politician of ancient Rome, of patrician rank, of the 2nd century BC. He was curule aedile in 161 BC, and exhibited the Ludi Megalenses, at which Terence's play ''Eunuchus'' had debuted. He was consul in 154 BC, and died seven days after he had set out from Rome in order to go to his province. It was supposed that he was poisoned by his wife, Publilia. Patrician (ancient Rome)
The patricians (from la, patricius, Greek: πατρίκιος) were originally a group of ruling class families in ancient Rome. The distinction was highly significant in the Roman Kingdom, and the early Republic, but its relevance waned after the Conflict of the Orders (494 BC to 287 BC). By the time of the late Republic and Empire, membership in the patriciate was of only nominal significance. The social structure of Ancient Rome revolved around the distinction between the patricians and the plebeians. The status of patricians gave them more political power than the plebeians. The relationship between the patricians and the plebeians eventually caused the Conflict of the Orders. This time period resulted in changing the social structure of Ancient Rome. Manius Acilius Glabrio (consul 191 BC)
Manius Acilius Glabrio was a Roman general and consul of the Roman Republic in 191 BC. He came from an illustrious plebeian family ('' gens'') whose members held magistracies throughout the Republic and into the Imperial era. Career Glabrio was a tribune of the plebs in 201, plebeian aedile in 197, and ''praetor peregrinus'' in 196. He was elected consul for the year 191 BC together with Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica. As consul, Glabrio defeated the Seleucid ruler Antiochus the Great at the Battle of Thermopylae, and compelled him to leave Greece. Marcus Claudius Marcellus (died c. 148 BC) was Roman consul for the years 166 BC (together with Gaius Sulpicius Gallus), for 155 BC (with Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Corculum), and for 152 BC (with Lucius Valerius Flaccus).
