Lucas Frost Giolito (born July 14, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He attended Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California, and was selected by the Washington Nationals in the first round in the 2012 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Nationals in 2016. His fastball has been clocked as high as . In 2019, as a member of the White Sox, he was named to the MLB All-Star Game and pitched one scoreless inning in a 4–3 victory for the American League. On August 25, 2020, he became the 19th player in White Sox history to throw a no-hitter in a 4–0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fastball
The fastball is the most common type of pitch thrown by pitchers in baseball and softball. "Power pitchers," such as former American major leaguers Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens, rely on speed to prevent the ball from being hit, and have thrown fastballs at speeds of (officially) and up to (unofficially). Pitchers who throw more slowly can put movement on the ball, or throw it on the outside of home plate where batters can't easily reach it. The UCLA Bruins baseball team is the varsity college baseball team of the University of California, Los Angeles. Having started playing in 1920, the program is a member of the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference. It plays its home games at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Ethan Russell Katz (born July 4, 1983) is an American professional baseball coach, and former minor league baseball player. He is the pitching coach for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Prior to that, Katz served as the assistant pitching coach of the San Francisco Giants in the 2020 season. He attended East Los Angeles College, and then Sacramento State for college baseball. Playing career Katz was born in Los Angeles, California. Katz is of Jewish background. He attended University High School in West Los Angeles, California. There, he was All-City, League MVP, and All-League. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 47th round of the 2001 MLB draft, but did not sign.
