Luca Antonio Colomba
Luca Antonio Colomba (1674–1737) was a Swiss Baroque painter born at Arogno. His style was distinguished for its happy compositions and its careful design, as also for the delicate and tender colours. He painted in oil and fresco. He was the son of Giovanni Battista Colomba of Arogno in the Swiss-Italian region of Ticino. He first trained with his father, as well as influenced by painters of his circle, as Carlo Antonio Bussi, Santino Bussi, and Carpoforo Tencalla. In 1697, he married Martha Tosetti of Lugano; a year later the couple had a son and daughter. He was widowed and married in 1712 a second wife, Anna Maria, daughter of the painter Giovanni Carloni, and sister of Carlo Innocenzo Carloni and Diego Carloni. Arogno
Arogno is a municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Lugano (district), Lugano in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Ticino, located south of Lake Lugano in the southernmost tip of Switzerland. History Arogno has been inhabited since late antiquity, because of its strategic location along the transit route between Seprio and Isola Comacina. During the Lombards, Langobardian era, Arogno expanded into a major fortified garrison. In 859 the monastery of S. Ambrogio in Milan was listed as the owner of property in Arogno. Donato Giuseppe Frisoni (b. 1681 or 1683, Laino – d. 29 November 1735, Ludwigsburg) was an Italian architect active during the Rococo period in Northern Italy, Southern Germany, and Bohemia. Giovanni Battista Innocenzo Colombo
Giovanni Battista Innocenzo Colombo (16 December 1717 – 10 April 1801) was a Switzerland, Swiss painter and stage set designer. Born in Arogno, he was a pupil of his uncle, Luca Antonio Colomba. He worked in Frankfurt, Mannheim, Vienna, Hamburg, Prague, Munich and other cities. For 18 years, he was the court architect at Stuttgart and stage set designer for the Duke. He also worked in Turin, but his major work was a large ceiling fresco at the Ludwigsburg Palace. His first documented paintings were for allegorical decorations and Illusionistic ceiling painting, quadratura for the ceiling of the Römer at Frankfurt. This work was destroyed in World War II. In 1749, he was commissioned to decorate a parochial church at Uetersen in Schleswig-Holstein. In 1750, he decorated the ducal theatre at Hannover. Duke Eberhard Louis (18 September 1676 – 31 October 1733) was the Duke of Württemberg, from 1692 until 1733. Biography Eberhard Louis was born in Stuttgart the third child of Duke William Louis and his wife, Magdalena Sibylla of Hesse-Darmstadt. After the early and unexpected death of his father in 1677, the royal court decided to give guardianship to his uncle, Frederick Charles, Duke of Württemberg-Winnental. In 1693, Magdalena Sibylla had the 16-year-old Eberhard Louis prematurely proclaimed Duke of Württemberg by Emperor Leopold I. The young duke showed no excessive interest in governmental affairs. Baroque
The Baroque (, ; ) is a style of architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, and other arts that flourished in Europe from the early 17th century until the 1750s.
