Luboš Tomíček Jr.
Luboš Tomíček (born 14 March 1986 in Prague, Czech Republic) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from the Czech Republic. He earned 4 international caps for the Czech Republic national speedway team. Career Tomíček comes from a 3-generation motorsport family; his grandfather and father Luboš Tomíček Sr. were also professional speedway riders. In 2003, he made his British league debut after riding four times for Oxford Cheetahs during the 2003 Elite League speedway season. The following season he joined Newcastle Diamonds and rode for them for two seasons. After a short loan spell with Newcastle, he returned to Oxford in 2005, spending three seasons with them from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, he reached the final of the 2007 Speedway Under-21 World Championship and won a bronze medal at the Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship. 2008 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2008 Speedway Grand Prix was the 63rd edition of the official World Championship and the 14th season in the Speedway Grand Prix used to determine the Speedway World Champion. It was the second under the promotion of IMG. Event format The format for 2008 was the same as that used in 2007 with 16 riders taking part in each Grand Prix. Over the course of 20 heats each rider raced against every other rider once. The top eight scorers advanced to a semi-final and from each semi-final the first and second placed riders advanced to the GP final. All rides count towards Grand Prix points totals, including the semi-final and final, which counts double (6-4-2-0) and therefore the maximum points for a single Grand Prix is 24 (five heat wins, semi final win and final win). The 2008 FIM Nordicbet Speedway World Cup (SWC) is the 8th FIM Speedway World Cup season. The Final took place on July 19 2008 in Vojens, Denmark. The tournament was won by host team Denmark (49 pts) and they beat defending champion Poland (46 pts), Sweden (39 pts) and Australia (21 pts) in the Final. Speedway World Cup
The Speedway World Cup is an annual motorcycle speedway, speedway event held each year in different countries. The first edition of the competition in the current format was held in 2001 and replaced the old Speedway World Team Cup, World Team Cup which ran from 1960 until 2000. The last edition was in 2017. From 2018, the World Cup was replaced by the Speedway of Nations, which effectively brought back the pairs format. However, in 2023 the World Cup will return. Format The final tournament usually lasted for about a week with four meetings held in six or seven days. It started with two first round "events", each consisting of four national teams. Speedway Under-21 World Championship
The Speedway Under-21 World Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) since 1977. As of 2022, the title was awarded to the winner of the SGP2 category at the FIM Speedway World Championship. History Between 1977 and 1987 the Championship was the called Individual Speedway Junior European Championship (European Speedway Under 21 Championship), open only to European riders. In 1979, the Championship allowed riders from other continents to compete, but was renamed to the Speedway World Under 21 Championship in 1988.
