Lovro Artuković
Lovro Artuković (born in 1959 in Zagreb) is a contemporary Croatian painter and graphic artist who primarily paints large scale figurative canvases. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Artistic career For nine years, until 2003, he worked as an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb. He then moved to Berlin where he still works as a freelance artist. His painting style is based on the theme of intimism and explores the figurative using the iconography of urban civilisation. In the 1980s many of his works focused on portraiture and the artist's wife figures as the most prominent sitter. His works then developed through the 1990s, although never directly painting the war which he experienced, (Croatian War Independence) his self-portraits and portraits of couples of this period reflected an atmosphere of war. The International Competition of Young Conductors Lovro von Matačić is being organized by the Lovro and Lilly Matačić Foundation every 4 years in Zagreb (Croatia) and is eligible to conductors under the age of 35. About the Competition In 1995, on the 10th anniversary of maestro Lovro von Matačić's death, the first ''Lovro Matačić International Competition of Young Conductors'' was held. Lovro Šturm (19 May 1938 – 2 December 2021) was a Slovenian jurist and politician. He was a law professor and served as the president and judge of the Constitutional Court of Slovenia, the Minister of Education and Minister of Justice of Slovenia. Biography Šturm was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia (then part of the Yugoslavia). After completing grammar school in Ljubljana, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law at Ljubljana University. He completed his degree in 1961. After completing additional studies in Trieste and Strasbourg, he was awarded a diploma by the International Faculty of Comparative Law in 1963. He headed the Public Administration Institute of the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana. Šturm was the President of the Council of the Public Administration Institute. Lovro Radonić (February 25, 1928 – July 31, 1990) was a Croat water polo player and butterfly swimmer who competed for Yugoslavia in the 1952, 1956, and 1960 Summer Olympics. He was born in Korčula, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Radonjić was part of the Yugoslav team which won the silver medal in the 1952 tournament. He played all nine matches. Four years later he won again the silver medal with the Yugoslav team in the 1956 tournament. He played six matches. In 1960 he participated in the 200 metre butterfly competition but was eliminated in the first round. He was born in Korčula and died in Rijeka. Lovro Monti (21 April 1835, in Knin – 9 April 1898) was a Dalmatian politician of Italian descent. He was a Dalmatian Italian, whose grandfather fought for the Republic of Venice against Napoleon, who was also from a family of Italian origin. Biography In 1859 Monti graduated from law school in Padua (Italy), and lately worked as an apprentice in Split for a while. Along with Miho Klaić, Natko Nodilo (another Dalmatian Italian), Mihovil Pavlinović, lawyers Stjepan Mitrov Ljubiša and Konstantin Vojnović, Monti was one of the founders of the People's Party (″Narodna stranka") in Dalmatia, and the Illyrian movement. Since 1862 he worked in Knin as a lawyer, and in 1866 he became the president of the municipality. He has been elected as a deputy in the Dalmatian assembly five times in a row.
