Lovro Von Matačić
Lovro von Matačić (14 February 1899 – 4 January 1985) was a Croatian conductor and composer. Early life Lovro von Matačić was born in Sušak to a family that was granted a noble title in the early 17th century. Growing up, he was always surrounded by music and art: his father had a career as an opera singer, and his mother as an actress. After his parents’ divorce, the family moved to Vienna, where Lovro joined the Vienna Boys Choir of the Royal Court Chapel at the age of eight. The Choir's repertoire must have influenced his later affinities, but most of all through the music of Anton Bruckner. In the Piarists’ Gymnasium in Vienna he received training in piano, organ and music theory. His music education continued under distinguished teachers at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik, which he never attended formally, and from which he did not obtain any degrees. Lovro Majer (; born 17 January 1998) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Ligue 1 club Rennes and the Croatia national team. Club career Early career Majer was born in Zagreb in 1998. His father Egon hails from Preko on the island of Ugljan. Majer started his football career with the local team Dinamo Zagreb. The International Competition of Young Conductors Lovro von Matačić is being organized by the Lovro and Lilly Matačić Foundation every 4 years in Zagreb (Croatia) and is eligible to conductors under the age of 35. About the Competition In 1995, on the 10th anniversary of maestro Lovro von Matačić's death, the first ''Lovro Matačić International Competition of Young Conductors'' was held. Since then, the event has been attracting the attention of the musical public every four years in autumn, bringing to Croatia's capital young conductors eager to find an incentive at the start of their careers. Lovro Šturm (19 May 1938 – 2 December 2021) was a Slovenian jurist and politician. He was a law professor and served as the president and judge of the Constitutional Court of Slovenia, the Minister of Education and Minister of Justice of Slovenia. Biography Šturm was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia (then part of the Yugoslavia). After completing grammar school in Ljubljana, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law at Ljubljana University. Lovro Mazalin (born 28 June 1997) is a Croatian professional basketball player for Cibona of the Croatian League and the ABA League. Lovro Dobričević
Lovro Marinov Dobričević or Lorenzo Bon, Lorenzo di Marino da Cattaro (c. 1420 – 1478) was a painter from Venetian Dalmatia. Born in Kotor, Republic of Venice (now Montenegro), he studied art in Venice before returning to Ragusa (modern-day Dubrovnik) to work. He first started to paint in the Serbian Orthodox Savina Monastery in Zeta and Serbian Despotate (now Montenegro) in the mid-15th century. Also, his paintings may still be seen in both the Dominican and Franciscan monasteries in the city of Dubrovnik; one of his altarpieces may still be seen in a church in Slano. Lovro Ščrbec (born 30 January 1990) is a Croatian football forward, currently playing for NK Lukavec. Club career Lovro Ščrbec was one of the best players in Croatian U-18 national team. In the 2006–07 season with cadets team of NK Zagreb he was Champion of Croatia. Thanks to his excellent season in Croatian Cadets Championship together with his younger brother Filip Šćrbec he was invited in training center of Italian football giant Milan, where he has had successful trial (test games), but because of problems for getting EU visa for younger than 18 years, he had to return to Croatia. Lovro Karaula
Lovro Karaula (1800 – 20 July 1875) was a Croats of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian Croat Franciscan friar. Biography Karaula was born in 1800 near Livno. A member of the Franciscan Province of Bosnia from 1816, he was educated in Fojnica and in Hungary. Karaula served as a secretary to bishop Augustin Miletić, as well as being a parish priest. He soon rose to become an important figure of his Province. Karaula is well known for the rebuilding of churches and the construction of schools. He received permission for building the first church by making a direct request to Abd-ul-Mejid I, Sultan Abdulmejid I in Constantinople. However, the renaissance of the Catholic Church in the country soon came to the attention of the local Ottoman Empire, Ottoman officials who had kept the church under severe restraint for centuries. Lovro Medić (born 23 October 1990) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays for NK Zagreb as a forward.
