Loves Ugly Children
Loves Ugly Children were a New Zealand indie rock band on Flying Nun Records, amongst other labels, during the 1990s. They released two albums, many EPs, singles and videos and toured extensively through their home country of New Zealand, as well as Australia and England. History Loves Ugly Children was formed in Christchurch in 1989 by vocalist/guitarist Simon Maclaren, Scott MacArthur (guitar), Angela 'Floss" Leslie (bass) and Simon Crockett (drums). The band recorded five tracks which appeared on a tape release called Stagger Failsafe Records. The band split up and reformed as a three piece with MacLaren, Floss and a new drummer from Dunedin, Gregg Cairns. They didn't play any material from the previous line up, though they did decide to revert to the name Loves Ugly Children. They recorded several songs, none of which were released. Garageland are a New Zealand indie rock band on the Flying Nun record label formed in Auckland in 1992. Influenced by Pixies, Pavement, The Clean and The Velvet Underground, they were critically acclaimed in the UK and United States for their well-crafted and catchy pop songs. The band took its name from " Garageland", a song by The Clash. ''Scarfies'' (released as ''Crime 101'' in the United States) is a 1999 New Zealand black comedy film set in the southern university city of Dunedin. The film's original title comes from the local nickname for university students, scarfie, so called because of the traditional blue and gold scarves worn by students during the city's cool winters in support of the Otago Rugby Football Union. Plot ''Scarfies'' starts off as a light comedy centred on a group of five students who get together after moving into a flat that is seemingly abandoned, but still has the power on, making it a free but filthy accommodation. The film twists into something darker part way through, with elements of both black comedy and thriller. The discovery of a large crop of marijuana being grown in the basement leads firstly to euphoria, then paranoia and arguments amongst the flatmates about what will happen when the real owners come back to collect it. "Honey, Honey" is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released as the second single from their second studio album, '' Waterloo'', after the success of the title track at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. History "Honey, Honey" was written by Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Stig Anderson, with shared vocals by Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Ulvaeus. Along with the English version, ABBA also recorded "Honey, Honey" in Swedish on January 30, 1974, at Metronome Studio, Stockholm. This was the last official recording by the group in their own language, and was released as the B-side of the Swedish " Waterloo" single.
