Love You Till Tuesday (film)
''Love You till Tuesday'' is a promotional film designed to showcase the talents of a 22-year old David Bowie, made in 1969. The film was an attempt by Bowie's manager, Kenneth Pitt, to bring Bowie to a wider audience. Pitt had undertaken the film after a suggestion by Günther Schneider, producer of German TV show ''4-3-2-1 Musik Für Junge Leute'' for the ZDF network. The film ended up being shelved, and was not released until 1984, when it finally came out on VHS. A DVD version was released in UK in 2005. Production Pitt hired his friend Malcolm J Thomson to direct the half-hour film, which was originally planned to showcase seven of Bowie's songs, including four from his 1967 David Bowie (1967 album), debut album (three of them newly re-recorded for the film), plus the follow-up single "Let Me Sleep Beside You" and new compositions "When I'm Five" and "Ching-a-Ling". It would also include a mime artist, mime piece performed and narrated by Bowie, ''The Mask''. Before shooti ...

Rubber Band (song)
"Rubber Band" is a song by English singer-songwriter David Bowie. It was recorded in October 1966 following Bowie's dismissal from Pye Records and helped secure him a record contract with Decca-subsidiary Deram Records, who released it as a single in the United Kingdom on 2 December of the same year. A departure from the mod-style sound of his previous releases, "Rubber Band" displays a style informed by vaudeville and British music hall – influenced particularly by British actor Anthony Newley. The lyrics tell the story of a man who goes off to war and, upon his return, finds his lover fell for a brass band conductor. Like his other early singles, "Rubber Band" failed to chart. Nevertheless, Bowie's biographers note that the track represents a creative leap in the artist's songwriting. The song was re-recorded in February 1967 for Bowie's first full-length album, ''David Bowie'' (1967). Produced by Mike Vernon, the remake has a slower tempo and a varied vocal performance ...

Love You Till Tuesday (album)
''Love You Till Tuesday'' is a compilation of 1960s material by David Bowie, issued as a companion to the belated video release of Bowie's 1969 promotional film '' Love You Till Tuesday''. Deram, Bowie's record label from 1966 to mid-1969, released the soundtrack to the film. Due to its release when Bowie was a star, this has often been confused with his debut album. It does share some songs with the 1967 LP, but most of it was remixed in 1984. It was the first release to feature the original version of "Space Oddity", "Ching-a-Ling" and "When I'm Five", and also included previously unreleased versions of "Sell Me A Coat" and "When I Live My Dream". In 1992, Pickwick Records reissued the compilation on CD, featuring a modified track list and a different cover. In addition to reordering the tracks, it also featured different versions of "Space Oddity", "Ching-A-Ling", " Love You Till Tuesday", "Rubber Band" and "When I Live My Dream". The first two are longer versions (the vin ...

Deram Records
Deram Records was a subsidiary record label of Decca Records established in the United Kingdom in 1966. At the time, U.K. Decca was a different company from the Decca label in the United States, which was owned by MCA Inc. Deram recordings were distributed in the U.S. through UK Decca's American branch known as London Records. Deram was active until 1979, then continued as a reissue label. 1966–1968 In the 1960s Decca recording engineers experimented with ways of improving stereo recordings. They created a technique they named "Decca Panoramic Sound." The term "Deramic" was created as abbreviation of this. The new concept "allowed for more space between instruments, rendering these sounds softer to the ear." Early stereo recordings of popular music usually were mixed with sounds to the hard left, centre, or hard right only. This was because of the technical limitations of the professional 4-track reel-to-reel recorders which were considered state of the art until 1967. ...
