Love Song (band)
Love Song was one of the most prominent Jesus music bands, and one of the first Christian rock bands. They released two studio albums—''Love Song'' (1972) and ''Final Touch'' (1974)—and one live album—''Feel the Love'' (1977)—before disbanding. They subsequently released ''Welcome Back'' in 1994, remastered versions of the three early albums and ''Love Song: The Book of Love'' as a box set in 2010. Background Love Song was founded in 1970 by Chuck Girard, Tommy Coomes, Jay Truax, and Fred Field, prior to the conversion of any of the band members. Field and Truax were the first two to convert to Christianity and began attending a bible study at Chuck Smith's Calvary Chapel where the other two eventually "accepted Jesus". Drummer John Mehler joined within six months, but he and Field left before mid-1971 to form a new group. Bob Wall, who subsequently played guitar on all three albums, was brought in. Jay Truax
Jay Truax (born Lynwood, California) is a bass player and singer with Love Song (band), Love Song, a pioneer Christian rock group. Jay formed a Salt Lake City rock group with John Mehler and Fred Field called Spirit of Creation. Later he joined with Chuck Girard and Tommy Coomes in Love Song (band), Love Song. Truax also played bass and sang backing vocals for former Buffalo Springfield member Richie Furay between 1975 and 1977 and played on Furay's 1976 album ''I've Got a Reason''. He also played in The Surfaris, with Jim Fuller (musician), Jim Fuller, Jim Pash (Wipe Out (instrumental), Wipe Out), not Bob Berryhill’s spin off version of The Surfaris, off and on from 1982 until 2017. Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. The band is known for its eclectic style, which fused elements of rock, folk, country, jazz, bluegrass, blues, rock and roll, gospel, reggae, world music, and psychedelia; for live performances of lengthy instrumental jams that typically incorporated modal and tonal improvisation; and for its devoted fan base, known as "Deadheads". "Their music", writes Lenny Kaye, "touches on ground that most other groups don't even know exists."
