Louisiana Highway 83
Louisiana Highway 83 (LA 83) is a state highway located in southern Louisiana. It runs in a general east–west direction from LA 14 in New Iberia to LA 182 in Baldwin. The route essentially forms a loop off of U.S. Highway 90 (US 90). It dips southward from New Iberia, the seat of Iberia Parish, through the community of Lydia and crosses Weeks Island, a salt dome located within the wetlands along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. After crossing into St. Mary Parish, LA 83 traverses the small rural communities of Louisa, Glencoe, and Four Corners en route to the town of Baldwin. LA 83 serves to connect these locations with US 90, the area's main highway, with which it shares two interchanges and passes near a third. Louisiana Department Of Transportation And Development
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is a state government organization in the United States, in charge of maintaining public transportation, roadways, bridges, canals, select levees, floodplain management, port facilities, commercial vehicles, and aviation which includes 69 airports, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The agency has approximately five thousand personnel on staff and an operating budget of $2.3 billion. DOTD operations are run through nine district offices across the state. Cypremort Point State Park
Cypremort Point State Park is a public recreation area located on Vermilion Bay, Louisiana near the end of La. Hwy. 319. It is named for nearby Cypremort Point. Cypremort means "dead cypress" in French. The park, set against a backdrop of coastal marsh, contains a half-mile stretch of man-made beach which contains picnic sites, a fishing pavilion and sailboat launch. The Louisiana and Delta Railroad is a short-line railroad headquartered in New Iberia, Louisiana. LDRR operates over 114 miles of branch line in southern Louisiana between Lafayette, Louisiana and Raceland, Louisiana, with most of the lines near US 90. LDRR operates via trackage rights on the BNSF Railway. LDRR traffic generally consists of bauxite ore, carbon black, fertilizer, molasses, oilfield supplies, paper products, pipe, sugar and rice.
