Louis Boutet De Monvel

	Louis Boutet De Monvel Louis Boutet de Monvel (22 June 1941 – 25 December 2014) was a French mathematician who worked on functional analysis. He was a student of Laurent Schwartz in Paris and was professor at the Pierre and Marie Curie University. He was married to Anne Boutet de Monvel, also a mathematician. In 2007 he was awarded the Émile Picard Medal of the French Academy of Sciences and in 2003 the Prix de l'État. 	Functional Analysis Functional analysis is a branch of mathematical analysis, the core of which is formed by the study of vector spaces endowed with some kind of limit-related structure (e.g. Inner product space#Definition, inner product, Norm (mathematics)#Definition, norm, Topological space#Definition, topology, etc.) and the linear transformation, linear functions defined on these spaces and respecting these structures in a suitable sense. 	George Marinescu (mathematician) George Marinescu (born 22 June 1965, Brașov) is a Romanian mathematician, specializing in complex geometry, global analysis, and spectral theory. Marinescu received from the University of Bucharest in 1988 his baccalaureate degree and in 1989 his master's degree. Nang won the 2011 ICTP Ramanujan Prize for his research in mathematics, and because he conducted it in Gabon the ICTP declared: "It is hoped that his example will inspire other young African mathematicians working at the highest levels while based in Africa."
