Loughgiel Shamrocks
Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Loughgiel/Loughguile in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. They are currently the only club in Ulster to have won an All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, which they first won in 1983. They repeated the feat by defeating Coolderry from Offaly by 4-13 to 0-17 in the All Ireland Club Hurling Final on 17 March 2012. On Sunday 29 September 2013, they achieved their first four in a row of Antrim Senior Hurling Championships by beating Cushendall, in the first final to be staged outside Casement Park since 1990. The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Barney McAuley
Barney McAuley (born 1982) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Antrim senior team. McAuley made his first appearance for the team during the 2003 National League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2007 championship. During that time he won one Christy Ring Cup winners' medal and one Ulster winners' medal. At club level McAuley is an All-Ireland medalist with Loughgiel Shamrocks. Ballyhale Shamrocks GAA
Ballyhale Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Ballyhale in County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1972 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Ballyhale Shamrocks are the most successful club in the history of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship with eight titles. Hurling History Beginnings Gaelic Games had been played in the parish of Ballyhale long before the Shamrocks club was established. By the early 1970s there were two competing clubs in existence in the parish, Ballyhale and Knocktopher, however, they were both facing extinction. A third club, Knockmoylan, had ceased to exist at some time in 1959. Because of the situation facing both clubs they decided to amalgamate in 1972 under the new name of Ballyhale Shamrocks. James Stephens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and has enjoyed equal success in both hurling and Gaelic football. Liam Watson (hurler)
Liam Watson (born 1983) is a former hurler who played for Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC. He was nominated for an All Star award in 2011 and travelled to the United States as a replacement. Watson made his first appearance for Antrim during the 2002 championship and immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen. He won eleven Ulster medals, one National League (Division 2) medal and one Christy Ring Cup medal, the latter as a non-playing substitute. At club level, Watson is an All-Ireland medalist with Loughgiel Shamrocks. He has also won four Ulster medals and four county club championship medals. Niall Patterson
Niall Patterson (born 2 January 1962) is a former hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Antrim senior team. Patterson made his first appearance for the team during the 1979 "B" championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen for over a decade. During that time he won two All-Ireland "B" medals and three Ulster medals. At club level Patterson is an All-Ireland club medalist with Loughgiel Shamrocks.
