Barney McAuley
Barney McAuley (born 1982) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Antrim senior team. McAuley made his first appearance for the team during the 2003 National League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2007 championship. During that time he won one Christy Ring Cup winners' medal and one Ulster winners' medal. At club level McAuley is an All-Ireland medalist with Loughgiel Shamrocks. Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Loughgiel/Loughguile in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. They are currently the only club in Ulster to have won an All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, which they first won in 1983. They repeated the feat by defeating Coolderry from Offaly by 4-13 to 0-17 in the All Ireland Club Hurling Final on 17 March 2012. On Sunday 29 September 2013, they achieved their first four in a row of Antrim Senior Hurling Championships by beating Cushendall, in the first final to be staged outside Casement Park since 1990. Ulster Senior Hurling Championship
The Ulster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Ulster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Ulster, and has been contested every year since the 1901 championship. The final, usually held in July, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during June, and the results determine which team receives the Liam Harvey Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. In 2016, a two-tier format began. Loughgiel Shamrocks Hurlers
Loughguile ( ; ), also spelt Loughgiel or Loughgeel, is a village and civil parish in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Situated 8 miles east of Ballymoney it is within the Causeway Coast and Glens Council area, and is at the edge of the Glens of Antrim. It had a population of 396 people (128 households) in the 2011 Census. Education The local schools are St Patrick's Primary School and St Anne's Primary School. The Antrim Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bathshack.com Antrim Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Antrim SHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Antrim County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. It is contested by the top-ranking senior clubs in the county of Antrim, Northern Ireland, with the winners decided through a group and knockout format. It is the most prestigious competition in Antrim hurling. In its present format, the eight teams are drawn into two groups of four teams and play each other in a single round-robin system. The Christy Ring Cup () is an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Originally introduced as a second-tier competition, it is currently the third tier overall in the inter-county hurling championship system. Each year, the champions of the Christy Ring Cup are promoted to the Joe McDonagh Cup, and the lowest finishing team is relegated to the Nicky Rackard Cup. Kildare are the 2022 title-holders. The 2007 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 121st staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 22 May 2007 and ended on 2 September 2007. Kilkenny were the defending champions, and successfully retained their All-Ireland crown following a 2–19 to 1–15 defeat of Limerick. This put them on level terms with Cork on 30 titles. The 2003 National Hurling League was the 72nd seasons of the National Hurling League. Division 1 Kilkenny came into the season as defending champions of the 2002 season. Laois entered Division 1 as the promoted team. On 5 May 2003, Kilkenny won the title following a 5–14 to 5–13 win over Tipperary in the final. It was their second league title in succession and their 11th National League title overall. Derry, who lost all of their group stage matches, were relegated from Division 1 after losing all of their matches in the relegation group.
