Ohrdruf, Thuringia
Ohrdruf () is a small town in the district of Gotha in the German state of Thuringia. It lies some 30 km southwest of Erfurt at the foot of the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest. The former municipalities Crawinkel, Gräfenhain and Wölfis were merged into Ohrdruf in January 2019. History Medieval and early modern Ohrdruf was reportedly founded in 724–726 by Saint Boniface, as the site of the first monastery in Thuringia, dedicated to Saint Michael. It was the first of several religious foundations in the town, the latest of which is the Carmelite monastery Karmel St. Elija (founded 1991). In 1550, under work began on ''Schloss Ehrenstein'' at the site of the former 8th century monastery. During the 17th century, the ''Schloss'' fell to the Grafen von Hohenlohe who after 1760 made alterations to it in Baroque style. ''Anna Susanna'' is an East German drama film directed by Richard Nicolas. It was released in 1953. Plot During the Great Depression, a rich businessman named Brinkmann decides sink his ship, ''Anna Susanna'', so he would be compensated by the insurance. He orders its captain, Kleiers, to sabotage it while at sea. When Kleiers carries out his instructions, several sailors and passengers notice him. In a fight that ensues, the captain is killed, but not before he manage to shipwreck ''Anna Susanna''. Only a handful of people survive the incident. ''Quax the Crash Pilot'' (german: Quax, der Bruchpilot) is a 1941 German comedy film directed by Kurt Hoffmann and starring Heinz Rühmann, Karin Himboldt and Lothar Firmans. It is also sometimes translated as ''Quax the Test Pilot''.Chapman p. 192 It features the popular song " Homeland, Your Stars". The film set in the 1930s before the outbreak of the Second World War. It is based on an aviation story by Hermann Grote about an everyday man who wins a newspaper competition that offers free flying lessons. Despite initial struggles, he gradually shows himself to be a good pilot. Much of the film was shot on location in Bavaria. Interiors were shot at the Tempelhof and Babelsberg Studios in Berlin and the Bavaria Studios in Munich.
