Lot 17 is a township in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is part of Richmond Parish. Lot 17 was awarded to Bingham and Theobold Burke in the 1767 land lottery. Half of it had been sold for arrears of quitrent by 1781, and one quarter was granted to Loyalists. Six-thousand acres were sold to Acadians in 1800. Linkletter, Prince Edward Island
Linkletter is a List of rural municipalities in Prince Edward Island, rural municipality in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Prince County. The community is named after settler George Linkletter, who arrived from Greenwich, Connecticut in 1783 after receiving a royal land grant. His son George Linkletter II would have his estate as the namesake of the community of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Summerside. When George Linkletter settled on Prince Edward Island, he and his family also began Linkletter farms which still operates as a potato farm today. Although George Linkletter began the farm in 1783 after settling, it was not till the 1940s before they specialized in potato farming. Canadian Forces Base Summerside (CFB Summerside) was an air force base located in St. Eleanors, Prince Edward Island, Canada, now part of the city of Summerside. RCAF Station Summerside World War II The airfield was constructed by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) between 1940–1941 and was named RCAF Station Summerside. It was home to No. 9 Service Flying Training School RCAF, a flight school that operated under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). Relief or emergency airfields were located at nearby RCAF Station Mount Pleasant and Wellington. Airmen were trained on Harvards. In July 1942 No. 9 SFTS moved to RCAF Station Centralia and was replaced by No. 1 General Reconnaissance School RCAF which flew Ansons. Summerside is a Canadian city in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. It is the second largest city in the province and the primary service centre for the western part of the island. History Summerside was officially incorporated as a town on April 1, 1877. On April 1, 1995, the Town of Summerside amalgamated with the incorporated communities of St. Eleanors and Wilmot. The Acadians (french: Acadiens , ) are an ethnic group descended from the French who settled in the New France colony of Acadia during the 17th and 18th centuries.
