Lostine River
The Lostine River is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map, accessed May 3, 2011 tributary of the Wallowa River in northeastern Oregon in the United States. It drains a portion of the Eagle Cap Wilderness of the Wallowa Mountains in the Wallowa–Whitman National Forest and joins the Wallowa River at Wallowa. In 1988, the upper of the Lostine River were listed as Wild and Scenic. A segment in the wilderness below the river's source at Minam Lake were classified "wild". The next were designated "recreational". The main stem rises at Minam Lake at an elevation of nearly above sea level, about south of the city of Lostine and west-southwest of Joseph. The river flows generally north following a glaciated U-shaped canyon. Oregon Route 82
Oregon Route 82 (OR 82) is a state highway in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Oregon. It travels from U.S. Route 30 (US 30) at La Grande to an intersection with Oregon Routes 350 and 351 in Joseph. It is known as the Wallowa Lake Highway No. 10 (see Oregon highways and routes). OR 82 is part of the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. OR 82 is the main route from remote Wallowa County to La Grande which serves as a transportation hub, providing access to main roads such as Interstate 84 (I-84) and US 30. It also sees extra tourist traffic in the summer, which mostly consists of travelers to Wallowa Lake, which is south of Joseph. Glacier
A glacier (; ) is a persistent body of dense ice that is constantly moving under its own weight. Wild And Scenic Rivers Of The United States
The National Wild and Scenic Rivers System was created by the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968 (Public Law 90-542), enacted by the U.S. Congress to preserve certain rivers with outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values in a free-flowing condition for the enjoyment of present and future generations. The Act is notable for safeguarding the special character of these rivers, while also recognizing the potential for their appropriate use and development. Oregon Water Trust
The Oregon Water Trust (OWT), now operating as The Freshwater Trust, is an environmental organization based in the U.S. state of Oregon. Its mission is to restore surface water flows for healthier streams in Oregon by using cooperative, free-market solutions. OWT was founded in 1993 by a group with diverse water interests who sought to utilize the "tools of the land trust movement...and apply the same approach to the acquisition of water".
