Lost In Space (film)
''Lost in Space'' is a 1998 American science-fiction adventure film directed by Stephen Hopkins, and starring William Hurt, Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman, and Heather Graham. The plot is adapted from the 1965–1968 CBS television series of the same name (itself inspired by the 1812 novel ''The Swiss Family Robinson'' by Johann David Wyss). Several actors from the TV show make cameo appearances. The film focuses on the Robinson family, who undertake a voyage to a nearby star system to begin large-scale emigration from a soon-to-be uninhabitable Earth, but are thrown off course by a saboteur and must try to find their way home. ''Lost in Space'' received negative reviews from critics and grossed $136.2 million worldwide with an $80 million budget. Stephen Hopkins (director)
Stephen Hopkins is a Jamaican-born British-Australian director and producer of film and television. He directed ''Predator 2'', '' A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child'', '' Blown Away'', ''The Life and Death of Peter Sellers'', ''Lost in Space'' and '' Under Suspicion''. He also produced and directed several episodes of the first season of ''24''. Career Film In Australia Hopkins made '' Dangerous Game'' (1987). The Robot Model- B-9, also known simply as the Robot, is a fictional character in the television series ''Lost in Space''. His full designation was only occasionally mentioned on the show. History Although a machine endowed with superhuman strength and futuristic weaponry, he often displayed human characteristics, such as laughter, sadness, and mockery, as well as singing and playing the guitar. With his major role often being to protect the youngest member of the crew, the Robot's catchphrases were "It does not compute" and "Danger, Will Robinson!", accompanied by flailing his arms. Richard Norton Tufeld (December 11, 1926 – January 22, 2012) was an American actor, announcer, narrator and voice actor from the late 1940s until the early 21st century. A cameo role, also called a cameo appearance and often shortened to just cameo (), is a brief appearance of a well-known person in a work of the performing arts.
