ITV News ''Lookaround'' is a British television news service produced by ITV Tyne Tees & Border and broadcasting to the “ITV Border, Border” region. Overview The news service is produced and broadcast from studios at The Watermark, Gateshead with reporters also based at offices in Carlisle and Edinburgh. Both regional services (I.e ‘’ITV News Tyne Tees’’ and ‘’Lookaround’’) utilise exactly the same presenter(s) and studio/set, therefore one of the two programmes - depending on the day's news - is pre-recorded 'as live' shortly before broadcast. The “Lookaround” news service transmits to a vast area – central and northern Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway, parts of South Ayrshire, the Scottish Borders and overlap areas of Northumberland. ITV Border
ITV Border, previously Border Television and commonly referred to as simply Border, is the Channel 3 service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the England/Scotland border region, covering most of Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders and parts of Northumberland. The TV service previously covered the Isle of Man from 26 March 1965 until 15 July 2009. Border Television was taken over by Granada plc in 2001 and a year later, as part of a network-wide re-launch, the name Border Television was dropped from on-air presentation, continuity and idents before networked programming in favour of the national ITV1 brand (ITV1 Border was used before regional programming). The licence for the region was transferred from Border Television to ITV Broadcasting Limited in November 2008. ITV Tyne Tees & Border is the producer of regional programming for the ITV Tyne Tees and ITV Border franchises. Between 2009 and 2013, the two regions were merged into a single region (although still with two franchises). Since 2013, each region receives its own regional service, but both services use the same studios and presenters. Overview The news service transmits to a vast area – northern and central Cumbria, County Durham, Dumfries and Galloway, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, the Scottish Borders and Tyne and Wear. The news services continue to be produced and broadcast from headquarters in Gateshead with reporters also based at bureaux in Billingham, Carlisle, Edinburgh and Selkirk. Biography Royle was born in Leicester, Leicestershire and was brought up mostly in North Yorkshire, but also in South Africa and Devon. After graduating with a joint honours degree in English Language and Literature from Newcastle University she taught English and Drama at a Chinese girls' school in Hong Kong.
