Look Out, Montserrat
Lookout (sometimes spelled as Look Out) is a village in the northern portion of the Caribbean island of Montserrat, a British Overseas Territory. The population was 696 as of 2018. Lookout is the home of several notable buildings including St. Patrick's Church and Blakes Estate Stadium, which is the largest stadium in Montserrat and has a higher capacity than the population of the entire town. The stadium is the home of the Montserrat national football team and several club teams in the Montserrat Championship including Police, Ideal, Tremors, and others. Montserrat ( ) is a British Overseas Territories, British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is part of the Leeward Islands, the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. Montserrat is about long and wide, with roughly of coastline. The Atlantic Time Zone is a geographical region that keeps standard time—called Atlantic Standard Time (AST)—by subtracting four hours from Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC), resulting in UTC−04:00. Blakes Estate Stadium
Blakes Estate Stadium, is a soccer stadium in Montserrat, near the village of Look Out. The stadium holds 1,000. On 2 April 2002, the officially named MFA Inc. Complex was completed using FIFA funds. Tenants Blakes Estate Stadium has several tenants and many of the teams in the Montserrat Championship use it for their league games. Montserrat National Team play their international fixtures there as well, where the team had never lost a game until a last minute defeat to El Salvador in September 2018. Montserrat National Football Team
The Montserrat national football team represents the small Caribbean island of Montserrat in the CONCACAF football region. Football is the second most popular sport in Montserrat, after cricket. The team plays at the Blakes Estate Stadium, near the village of Look Out. The Montserrat football team was formed in 1973, and has entered the World Cup qualifiers since the 2002 edition, being eliminated in the first round on each occasion. Due to the heavy volcanic activity on the island since 1995, the team has only played a handful of matches, and most of those have been away from home. Their only victories were against neighboring Anguilla in the qualifying tournament of the 1995 Caribbean Cup, winning 3–2 at home and 1–0 away. It was created in 1974 but has been competed-for only sporadically since then, partially as a result of the Soufrière Hills eruption causing widespread devastation to the island in 1997. Between 2005 and 2015, no league was played in this country at all. The league restarted in 2016, but has not been played since 2018. Ideal Sports Club is a Montserrat sports club based in Brades. Ideal SC is best known for their football team, who plays in the Montserrat Championship the highest tier of football on the island. Soufrière Hills
The Soufrière Hills are an active, complex stratovolcano with many lava domes forming its summit on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. After a long period of dormancy, the Soufrière Hills volcano became active in 1995 and has continued to erupt ever since. Its eruptions have rendered more than half of Montserrat uninhabitable, destroying the capital city, Plymouth, and causing widespread evacuations: about two-thirds of the population have left the island. Chances Peak in the Soufrière Hills was the highest summit on Montserrat until the mid-1990s, but it has since been eclipsed by various rising and falling volcanic domes during the recent volcanic activity. Plymouth, Montserrat
Plymouth is a ghost town and the ''de jure'' capital of the island of Montserrat, an British Overseas Territories, overseas territory of the United Kingdom located in the Leeward Island chain of the Lesser Antilles, West Indies. Constructed on historical lava deposits near the then long-inactive Soufrière Hills volcano, the town was evacuated in 1995 when the volcano resumed erupting. Plymouth was eventually abandoned permanently in 1997 after it was substantially buried by a series of pyroclastic flows and lahars. For centuries, it had been the only port of entry to the island.
