Longwood Lancers Baseball
The Longwood Lancers baseball team represents Longwood University, which is located in Farmville, Virginia. The Lancers are an NCAA Division I college baseball program that competes in the Big South Conference. They began competing in Division I in 2005 and joined the Big South Conference in 2013 after 8 seasons as an independent. The Longwood Lancers play all home games on campus at Buddy Bolding Stadium. The Lancers have played in 4 Big South Tournaments, reaching the semifinals in 2016 where they would lose to eventual Big South Conference and national champion Coastal Carolina. Since the program's inception in 1978, one Lancer have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, outfielder Michael Tucker. Chad Oxendine
Chad Oxendine (born June 10, 1981) is an American baseball coach and former catcher who is the currently the associate head baseball coach of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. He previously was the head coach of the Longwood Lancers. He played college baseball at Coastal Carolina for head coach Gary Gilmore from 2001 to 2004. Playing career Oxendine was a catcher at Coastal Carolina from 2001 to 2004, where he was a co-captain his junior and senior seasons, as well as a second-team All-Big South Conference player as a senior. He signed with the Chicago White Sox after college, spending one season with the Bristol White Sox of the Appalachian League before turning to coaching. Coaching career Oxendine began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at UNC Wilmington and later Alabama. Brian McCullough
Brian McCullough in a former American college baseball coach. McCullough was Longwood's head coach in 2014. The Lancers went 22–33 McCullough pitched for Longwood while it transitioned to Division I, setting Lancer records for innings pitched and strikeouts. He then played five seasons in independent baseball leagues, including the Frontier League, Northern League, and Atlantic League from 2007 through 2011. He accepted a position as an assistant coach at Longwood beginning with the 2010 season, serving as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator under Buddy Bolding Buddy Bolding is a former American coach of the Longwood Lancers baseball team, a member of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference.
