Longview, Alberta
Longview is a village in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Canadian Rockies foothills, on Cowboy Trail, 32 km west of High River and 64 km south of Calgary. Highwood River flows west of the village. Longview is known for its view west toward the first range of the Rocky Mountains, its cattle ranching heritage and its natural resources (principally oil), but more importantly the open spaces, rivers (the Highwood) and some of the finest beef by most standards. Longview is also known as the home of late Canadian Country Music star Ian Tyson. Longview Farm
Longview Farm in Lee's Summit, Missouri, United States was built by Robert A. Long. In planning the farm Long turned to Henry F. Hoit of Hoit, Price and Barnes, as he had designed Corinthian Hall and the R.A. Long Building. George Kessler was chosen as the landscape architect. The farm and over 50 other structures were built on 1,780 acres. Construction started in 1913 and completed in 1914 taking just 18 months to complete. The result is what came to be known as ''The World's Most Beautiful Farm''. Construction workers included 50 Belgian craftsmen and 200 Sicilian stonemasons, among 2,000 other workers, to build the Longview Mansion and farm. Employing 175 people, the farm not only consisted of all the amenities to care for the Longs prize horses but also a modern dairy, including prize Jersey cows, that produced enough milk for the farm, community, and charities. Longview Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Longview, Texas. Opened in 1978, it features Dillard's, JCPenney, Dick's Sporting Goods, Conn's Home Plus, and HomeGoods as its anchor stores. History The original anchors of Longview Mall were Sears, Bealls, J. C. Penney, Dillard's, H. J. Wilson Co. (later Service Merchandise), The Martin Twin Theater and Selber Brothers. In 1987, Selber Brothers sold its locations at Longview and Broadway Square Mall to Dillard's, who converted both to separate men's clothing stores. The Martin Twin was opened May 18, 1978. Each screen had 350 seats. Carmike later operated the theatre as the Mall Twin Cinema until its closing on August 28, 1997. The space is now occupied by Revive Church. Longview station is a train station in Longview, Texas, United States. It is served by Amtrak and was originally built by the Texas & Pacific Railway. The Longview station also serves as the train-bus transfer point for passengers destined to two Amtrak Thruway motorcoach routes. One route provides ''Texas Eagle'' connecting service to Nacogdoches, Houston and Galveston, Texas; the other route provides connecting nonstop service between Longview and Shreveport, Louisiana. Opened in 1940, the red brick depot replaced an 1874 structure. Its Colonial Revival style, popular in the early 20th century, includes stylized quoins, brick cornice and grey stone trim used to highlight the coping, keystones and lintels. Longview Independent School District is a public 5A school district based in Longview, Texas (USA). In addition to serving most of Longview, the district serves the city of Lakeport, most of Easton, a very small portion of East Mountain, and rural areas in eastern Gregg County. Longview is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, and county seat of Gregg County; a small part of Longview extends into the western portion of neighboring Harrison County. Longview is located in East Texas, where Interstate 20 and U.S. Highways 80 and 259 converge just north of the Sabine River. According to the 2020 U.S. census, the city had a population of 81,638. Longview is the principal city of the Longview metropolitan statistical area, comprising Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk Counties. Longview is a historic mansion in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Location The mansion is located at 811 Caldwell lane in South Nashville, the county seat of Davidson County, Tennessee and capital of the state. History A one-story cottage was built in the Antebellum era for Henry Norvell and Laura Sevier, the granddaughter of John Sevier, who had served as the first Governor of Tennessee. During the Civil War, the house was used by Confederate General John Bell Hood in his preparation before the Battle of Nashville of December 15–16, 1864. In 1878, the cottage was purchased by James Erwin Caldwell, the president of the Cumberland Telephone and Telegraph Company, which installed the Bell System in the American South. The Long View Center is a historic church building located in the Moore Square Historic District of Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The facility sits directly across from Moore Square, one of two surviving four-acre (1.6 ha) parks from Raleigh's original 1792 plan. Built between 1879 and 1881, Long View was originally known as Tabernacle Baptist Church. The name of the building was changed to Long View Center in 1998 after a local developer purchased the property to be used as a mixed-use facility. Long View is a town in Burke and Catawba counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 4,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hickory– Lenoir– Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Originally known as "Penelope," Long View incorporated in 1907.
