Panola County, Mississippi
Panola County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 34,707. Its county seats are Sardis and Batesville. The county is located just east of the Mississippi Delta in the northern part of the state. It is bisected by the Tallahatchie River flowing to the southwest; travel difficulties because of the river resulted in two county seats being established. Panola is the anglicization of ''ponolo'', a word meaning "thread" in both old Choctaw and Chickasaw and "cotton" in modern Choctaw. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Mississippi Highway 310
Mississippi Highway 310 (MS 310) is a east-west state highway in northern Mississippi. It runs from MS 3 in Crenshaw to MS 7 in the unincorporated area of Malone. Route description MS 310 begins on the eastern edge of the Mississippi Delta region in Panola County at an intersection with MS 3 in the very center of downtown Crenshaw. It immediately leaves downtown and passes through some neighborhoods before leaving the town to climb up some Loess bluff to leave the Delta. It travels eastward through a mix of woodlands and flat farmland for the next several miles, passing through the community of Longtown, to enter the town of Como at an intersection with U.S. Route 51 (US 51).
